  1. My reaction seems to be within a few minutes of ingesting gluten, but it seems to differ with the food type eaten. With bread, I don't seem to feel a reaction. With other things, like pasta and pizza, there is immediate gas, and chest bubbles, intestinal rumbling, and belching. Then I feel anxiety, and later, stomach pain and D. I don't know though, lately...
  2. I'm in for the candida, as well. Don't know if it's due to Gluten Intol (not diagnosed Celiac, either), or H. Pylori. however, h pylori treatment is done and i'm still symptomatic. rachel- i have a ques. enterolab gives you antitransglutaminase antibodies, right? i know in blood tests, these the antibodies that are more indicative to celiac tissue...
  3. Post gluten-free, (and pre gluten-free, actually), I have the worst problem digesting anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it. I have noticed a consistent pattern- I injest, there's the cramps, then I'm in the bathroom all day. I think I must have a fructose intolerance/malabsorption. I know I've read some on this being possibly related to Celiac...
  4. Michelle, I feel your pain. Sometimes this really sucks. I am kind of going through the same thing- I've been gluten-free for a month now, saw immediate improvement in symptoms after about a week, but had increased fatigue and weight loss. However, the D part is activated by even more food intolerances, the one I suspect is a fructose malabsorption problem...
  5. My diet's pretty restricted with no dairy, eggs, sugar, or gluten. (I cheat on all of the above except straight eggs and gluten). I'm still trying to get enough cals. Breakfast: Soy Yogurt w/fruit, Envirokids cereal and Lactaid, Applesauce, 100% Juice Weekends: Vans WF waffles w/ maple syrup, DF cool whip, SF sweetened strawberries, or gluten-free pancakes...
  6. I have had night sweats, and I'm only 31. You are probably not menopausal, but gluten sensitivity can cause some adrenal and/or hormonal imbalances. These have very gradually ceased since I went gluten-free. DavidB, I also was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency. Sometimes I feel lightheaded when going from laying down to standing. Yes- it is possibly...
  7. Jen H: Yeah- it was Blue Steel. Zoolander is my favorite movie, too! I switched it w/the real me now, though. Rachel: I'm glad you don't have H. Pylori. I'm done w/my course of antibiotics, and onto probiotic treatment. Flagyl tastes nasty. I really don't notice any difference in my symptoms. The reflux is improved but my intestinal issues are...
  8. I've had this happen to. Also, when I lay down at night after eating, I can hear my head throbbing on the pillow- like my heart is beating in my head- does that happen to anyone?
  9. Any recommended resource for gluten-free products found in say, the regular grocery store? (brands, etc) I have printed out gluten-free product lists from specific stores, like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, but am wondering if there are lists out there for other products in general. Also, any information on gluten-free foods at restaurant chains?
  10. [Yes, yes, yes! my symptoms were: an anxious feeling during or just after eating, with a tightness and pressure in my chest, feeling like my breathing was restricted. it was very asthma-like, but i was never diagnosed with asthma. about a week after i went gluten-free(1 month ago today), the "reflux", or whatever that was, stopped. It comes back if i...

    ARCHIVED Caffiene?

I haven't been able to tolerate it for a few years now. I always get decaf coffee, but have been pretty ok with sodas. now, if i have any amount of caffeine whatsoever, i feel jittery, shaky, and anxious. this seems to have worsened after going gluten-free.
  12. I had the same symptoms. My bladder would feel full and pressurey alot and I had to go all of the time. Now I think it may have been correlated with bloating. Also, yes, when I get glutened I feel anxious and panicked.
  13. [i totally empathize with everyone on here. Thank you for posting! I understand everything that everyone is going through. I have been very underweight my whole life. (I believe I've had Celiac my whole life). I recently went through a 20 lb weight loss and at 5'8'', 31 yo, I started losing at 115. Now I weigh 98. I've been gluten-free for 1 month...
  14. I had a negative scratch test for allergies to ANYTHING. Wheat, oats, barley, rye, were negative on an IgG food allergy test (delayed food allergies). I was positive anti-gliadin indicating gluten intolerance. Dr. said that IgG food allergies can come and go, gluten intolerance is something you're stuck with
  15. I'm from SD! Been gluten-free since 1/14/06, so I'm really new at this. I've messed up a few times. I am now pretty much strictly Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Henry's. I keep the downloadable gluten-free menu's in a folder in my car. Hey- you guys- any of you have a good PCP and/or GI that diagnosed you? I guess there is a support group here in SD...
  16. ok, darn! I'm not Derek Zoolander, I just like him a lot
  17. how do i contact a site administrator so that i can post a personal photo? it says not enabled.
  18. OK_ I need some confirmation here. As many of you know, one of my worst symptoms, besides the weight loss, is feeling like food is stuck in my esophagus after I eat. I feel a pressure which makes my heart rate go up and I feel anxious. Well, just today, I was reflecting on the alarming improvement of that since 3 wks gluten-free- although there have been...
  19. [i ate some pasta the night before mine (well, the night before that--because i had a colonoscopy too and couldn't eat!). Keep eating as you normally would. Eat gluten things you like, cuz you never know if that will be the last time.
  20. cassidy, i totally empathize with your situation. i have been gluten-free for 3 weeks or so, and i've lost atleast 5 lbs, that i could not afford to lose. i also just had surgery, 5 days after i went gluten-free. the thing is, i feel fairly healthy even though i'm a waif. i went to my pre-op today, and he said that i was the tiniest thing, almost anorexic...
  21. I was happy to find this post. I am really struggling with my weight too, you guys. For years, I have weighed about 107-110 lbs (Im 5' 7 1/2''), 125 was my most. In June, I all of a sudden gained weight and got up to 118 (I think this is from an increased hunger from gluten sens.) Then all of a sudden, i lost my appetite, and this horrible depression...

    ARCHIVED Finding A Doctor

yes, i would look into seeing a good dermatologist.
  23. The sleep thing happens to me ALL THE TIME. I feel like I am very tired, so I lay down, then I feel wired. I wake up many times during the night feeling wide awake. Maybe if it continues have your hormones tested. I found out that I have low DHEA which screws with your cortisol and all of your other hormones. It's like my body is in opposite mode.
  24. The avatar worked, but it will not let me add a "personal photo" (for the profile page). It says admin has not enabled me.
