  1. I am thinking the same thing. Since I was never actually diagnosed with Celiac, sometimes I think it's all in my head. I would start journaling, and you may find patterns- it's not! The one time I broke down and ate an In-N-Out Burger with the bun (I journal), I had 5 DAYS of bowel contractions, reflux, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety-depression like feelings...
  2. Mine is (was) about 1 inch below the bellow button. Feels like someone is poking me continuously. But it's gone, gluten-free!
  3. Did they find an infiltration of lymphocytes in the small intestine on your biopsy? That is the beginning stages of Celiac disease. You said your small intestine was inflamed, right? What do they think it's inflamed from?
  4. I would say that you DEFINITELY have gluten sensitivity. My results are similar to yours. They say that the biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosis of Celiac. I think that even with a negative tTg, it IS still possible that you have Celiac in the early stages, esp. given your 2 copies of DQ2, which I also have. The stool/blood tests can never be 10...
  5. How many out there have had a positive biopsy where your dr. said that they saw intestinal damage during the endoscopy? How many was the damage unnoticed during the procedure, but came back positive? I'm wondering if it actually can be seen with the naked eye?
  6. when i get glutened my knee joints seem to get tight and painful in the morning.
  7. I've recently indulged on the In-N-Out Gluten Free Protein burgers and french fries. Does anyone know if the ketchup packets (Heinz 57 I think) are also gluten-free? Just checking......it does say "natural flavors".
  8. I thought so, too. I thought if they can actually SEE the damage, it must be pretty bad.
  9. I had only a positive IgG with blood, and with Enterolab, I had a positive IgA. They test both Antigliadin IgA and Antigliadin Transglutaminase. The gene testing was very helpful, showing 2 copies of the Celiac Gene. For that it was worth the money.
  10. I would say that he is definitely gluten sensitive. Other markers like tTg and IgA are more specific for Celiac, but you can have celiac and have only an elevated IgG. Since one of your sons has Celiac, it is likely that the other has the genes for it, as well. I would put him on a gluten-free diet and see the positive changes. Even if he is not Celiac...
  11. I am both as well!
  12. I also bruise easily. I have elevated platelets, though, and my doc said that it was probably due to a Vitamin K deficiency.
  13. I was thinking the same thing, is it pronounced SEE-lee-ack, or SELL-lee-ack. I've also heard people pronounce it SILL-lee-ack.
  14. Meredith- Ditto on Rubios. I talked to someone there and all of their marinades have wheat in them, and their fryers are not dedicated. Boooo hooooooooooooo!!
  15. hmmm........i'm on my second box and haven't had a problem with them. I also like Edward and Sons Onion and Garlic nut thins, you might try those.....
  16. I avoid lactose since before my diagnosis, since the reactions were obvious. Now that I have had other IgG intolerances tested, I avoid: Bananas Pineapple Sesame Egg whites and yolks Sugar Asparagus Casein Yogurt Milk Cottage Cheese Blueberries Cranberries Lemon Orange Coffee (even decaf) By experience, I also avoid High Fructose Corn...

    ARCHIVED Bananas

I used to eat a banana every day, on my food intolerance test bananas were in the HIGH range, so i do not eat them. I also am intolerant to sugar and other fruits including cranberry, blueberry, pineapple, orange, lemon. You definitely could have a food sensitivity to bananas.
  18. hmmmmmmm, so I guess I'm not the only one. I have had problems with my knees feeling really tight in the morning, as with my elbows, but it gets better as I start walking. Now that i think of it, it has mostly gone away since going gluten-free. I guess this is a symptom of getting glutened?
  19. Thanks. Unfortunately I think it's my IgG coffee bean allergy that is rearing it's ugly head here:)
  20. I know Starbucks coffees are gluten-free. However, my drink is a decaf soy vanilla sugar free latte. What about the syrups- specifically vanilla and SF vanilla- are those also gluten-free? My guess is no, by my body's reaction.
  21. I live in San Diego. Yes- there is a Whole Foods in La Jolla. You can print their gluten free product line online. Also, there is a Trader Joes, and a Henry's store in La Jolla. Both of these have full gluten free menus that are printable offline. Go to glutenfreesd.com for more info about local stores and restaurants. There is a restaurant in La...
  22. Congrats, Chelsea! I'm waiting for the same thing. I was practically doing flips when I found that I do have double copies of the gene. I had increased platelets too- what does this mean?
  23. Sorry about your experience. I recently had a horrible experience w/ an endocrinologist. i just sent him a 4 page letter expressing my disappointment, including facts, research, and articles to further his awareness of Celiac Disease. I think it's a good idea to write him something that includes the above articles on the commonality of Celiac in overweight...
  24. Bill, I basically had the same experience. DR. noted 'mild flattening of the villi', told me to go gluten-free, and the biopsy report came back negative. After I went gluten-free i felt better. One thing you could also do is look for a 2nd opinion on your biopsy. that's what i'm doing. i also did enterolab genetic testing, and found that i have...
  25. oops, was having computer troubles......didn't mean to double post... Hi all! I just received my EnteroLab genetic analysis: I have HLA-DQB1*201, 0201 Does the above mean i have 2 copies of this gene? Later it says in parinthesis (HLA-DQ2). Is this the main one for Celiac? Does it make it more likely if you have both DQ2 and DQ8? Is one more likely...
