Hi all, I need some advice. I was diagnosed in November of this year, and because my toddler is very little I decided to do the blood tests for him. His numbers came back pretty high, and the next step is the endoscopy. we are scheduled for tomorrow and my husband and I are a wreck over it. I don't want to do it. I have this. I have 2 aunts and...

ARCHIVED Elevated body temp before diagnosis?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
And now that I'm thinking about this, I realize something else. my son is 3 and we are waiting for his endo next week. But I'm sure he is positive because his numbers were very high and I have it. And he is teeny tiny. Weighs about 25 lbs soaking wet. He has always had fevers. Not constantly, but when that little guy gets any hint of a bug his temp goes... -
ARCHIVED Elevated body temp before diagnosis?
Fbmb posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have kind of a weird one for you guys. Did anyone ever have unexplained low grade fevers before being diagnosed? I have an ear thermometer, which I know reads high, but before I went off gluten my temp was always like 99-99.8 on that thing. Orally it was normal. Do you think fevers can be a result of the immune response? Now I notice that with my... -
ARCHIVED Philosophy products?
Fbmb posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was just diagnosed, so I'm figuring all of this out. Does anyone know if maltodexterin found in beautify products is safe? It's listed in some philosophy lotions and I don't know if that means I can't wear them. I found another thread on here that said that most of their products are gluten free. But they didn't specifically talk about lotions -- just face... -
ARCHIVED Avocados?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oh wow. I didn't know about the histamine thing. So as long as I'm being diligent about gluten then anything else isn't causing damage, right? The histamine foods or processed foods aren't damaging my intestines and they're healing since I'm being so diligent about gluten? I think that more than anything I worry that my poor intestines aren't healing - but... -
So I'm almost a month into my diet, and my stomach is up and down. Last week it was actually pretty great. I was so excited. This week, not so much. I'm not having any pain, but my bowels seem to be all over the place. Yesterday for lunch I had avocado on some gluten-free toast. I had an entire avocado. Ate the whole thing. I had an apple with it. I...

ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been gluten-free for 3 weeks and have been pretty minimal with dairy the entire time. I might eat cheese here and there, or have sour cream on something - but I haven't had cereal with milk in a while. A long while. So I guess I haven't totally nixed it. I've just cut back on it. I haven't really noticed a difference in how I've felt. But I'm also not... -
ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So it's typical after 3 weeks to have normal bowels for several days and then revert back a bit? I don't want to bug my GI if this is just what's to be expected. Thanks for this! I've been doing pretty well eating mostly unprocessed foods. Last night I had a baked potato with butter on it. I also put sour cream on it. I think I did ok with... -

ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks I had an ok week, but yesterday and this morning my stomach was a little off again. I guess like you said, roller coaster ride. I was really excited that things seemed to be getting back to normal. I'm sure I'm not getting CC'd, because I'm so careful and neurotic. Maybe I'm just sensitive. And like you said, my stress level doesn't help anything... -
ARCHIVED Coffee?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My aunt hasn't celiac and also said that. She thinks she goes a little overboard. I'm overwhelmed. Thank you! -
Hey guys! I have a question about coffee. I'm newly diagnosed and confused. I bought Elisabeth Hasselbeck's book and she writes about being cautious about coffee. Is plain old unflavored coffee safe? I understand why some flavors or fancy drinks may be unsafe, but is a cup of coffee with milk (excluding a dairy issue) ok? I have some walmart brand 100% arabica...

ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No and no. Sometimes early in the morning I'm gassier than usual. But I haven't had full blown diarrhea in a while. It's just half and half. My stomach luckily doesn't hurt. I just seem to be sensitive to lots of fiber, spicy food, etc. it sounds like the testing for SIBO is pretty time consuming so I wasn't sure if I should ask my GI about it before... -
ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Should I be concerned about SIBO at this point, or should I just be patient and give myself a couple months? My stools are half ok, half not, all in the same bm. At first it's fine, then they're loose. I asked my GI about it and he said it's not cause for concern -- but it certainly doesn't seem "normal". Aside from that I feel ok. I notice my belly is less... -
ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated

It's been 2 weeks now and my belly still isn't right. Each morning when I get up and go to the bathroom it isn't normal. Half is normal, half isn't. I had quinoa, chicken, and broccoli for dinner. Maybe that was too much fiber? I just expected the GI issues to resolve immediately and it's not happening that way. You all don't think I should be concerned about... -
ARCHIVED What to eat now?
Fbmb posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi all! I was just diagnosed about 2 weeks ago. I'm doing well with being gluten free, but I've read some conflicting things and want to ask for your advice. I cleaned out my cabinets and bought gluten-free pasta, crackers, pretzels, a couple noodle cups, etc. I usually eat leftovers for lunch and we cook each night, but sometimes I need something... -
ARCHIVED endo. results - confused!
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went to Sprouts on Saturday and bought lots of gluten-free foods, and cleaned out my cabinets. I work full-time and I like to have snacks at work, so I bought some Glutino pretzels, Nut Thins, a couple of the Dr. McDougall's gluten-free noodle cups, etc. I mostly eat leftovers for lunch, but sometimes I need something quick. Is it ok for me to eat crackers... -

Is stage 3b a pretty common place to be when you're diagnosed? -
ARCHIVED endo. results - confused!
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ok, I just went to the link you posted. The pathologist said that I'm at 3b, but then talked about my biopsy like it's more in the 2 stage. In Marsh Score Stage 2, you see more lymphocytes than normal (just as in Marsh Score Stage 1), and you also see bigger depressions than normal between the intestinal villi. These depressions are called... -

Now that you say that, there is a staging on there. It says 3b. It says "the histological changes in this biopsy are type 3b. What does that mean???? -

Really? I just don't know anything. I assumed it was all really severe. When I asked my doctor he said I had some pretty significant damage. But he is also laid back. This is all so new to me, and I hate that they sent me my report. Too many big words! -

What if I have had it all this time? Looking back, I've had symptoms but didn't realize it. I have terrible anxiety, dry skin, mood issues, etc. My GI issues are recent, but looking back I've never really been "regular" - at least in my 20s. The longer you have it, does it do more damage? Does this open the door for other autoimmune diseases? Is the damage...
