Ok, two things: 1. I never had symptoms either. I'm 29 and I've always been healthy. Never had bad blood work. Never had any issues. I had two healthy pregnancies and never in a million bazillion years thought I had celiac. Last September I got a weird stomach bug and it just wouldn't get better. After about 3 weeks I started wondering what the heck...

You'll get better, but be patient with yourself. I was diagnosed in November and was lucky to not have very many symptoms yet, as I caught it early. But, that said, it still took about 6 months to feel like my gluten free diet was even doing any good. I'm still tired a lot, but I have two kids and run a non-profit. I have bad anxiety and hoped that would...

ARCHIVED Harvest land ground turkey?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Good to know! Thank you! -
I'm sure you do! And I'm sure it helped to have his guidance. I think squirmingitch's husband has celiac too. Mine has never been tested but he always complains about GI issues. As common as this is I wonder if he should get tested.

I guess it's nice to have a celiac partner in the house. It's nice that your hubby is gluten free. Mine is too for the most part. But he does eat his poisonous bread (he doesn't have celiac) and uses a toaster that I prefer to keep locked away out of sight. It about sends me into a panic when I see that he's used it and I scrub my counters like crazy. Some...

Also, my little guy ate the same thing (must less quantity of course) and he is fine today. He had fries and a nugget. Big eater. Lol

THey actually have dedicated fryers at chick-fil-a, so typically the fries are the least of my worries. thank you for all the tips!
-
Also, while at chik-fil-a I told them that my food and my son's food needed to be handled carefully because of celiac and they were "on it". They changed gloves and took time to be sure that it was ok.

I know some of you have probably seen that I have posted on here recently about my belly not being "great" at 5 months out. Well, last week things started to improve. I didn't eat anything processed (aside from some bread and crackers) and I also did my best to calm down (I have bad anxiety) and things seemed better. Yesterday we went out of town and we had...

ARCHIVED Probiotics / Vitamins
Fbmb posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Does anyone feel like sharing which probiotics and multivitamins they take? I know it can be hard to find some that are REALLY GENUINELY gluten free. I have been taking a probiotic that I found at Sprouts and it says it's gluten free. My aunt has Celiac and takes the renew life 50 billion. Mine is 30 billion. I don't know if that's enough? Should I be taking... -
ARCHIVED Feeling frustrated and impatient

My belly is still not right. I spend too much time looking at the Bristol stool chart. And if it's not where it's supposed to be according to that chart I practically have a meltdown. I'm guessing my anxiety is contributing to this. I was going to have my TTG checked again. I did have it checked in January and it had gone down significantly. My GI told... -
ARCHIVED Harvest land ground turkey?
Fbmb posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So I'm still learning. We buy harvest land ground turkey because I like their company, but today in the ingredients I saw vinegar. It doesn't say on the package if it's gluten free. So I went ahead and bought a different brand that doesn't list vinegar as an ingredient, just rosemary extract. I know that not all vinegar is "bad" for us. Has anyone contacted... -

ARCHIVED Feeling frustrated and impatient
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Am I technically still early on in the diet at almost 5 months? Did you experience ups and downs like this at 5 months? And if I do eat foods that seem to bother me, as long as they don't contain gluten, is it hurting my progress? I think that's my fear. That if I have a dairy issue if I eat dairy (just an example) I will slow down my healing or that I will... -

That all makes sense about the carbs. I definitely eat carbs in the evenings, more so than during the day. I really don't think I'm being CC'd. But it's a worry. I just don't know how it would be happening. I think tonight I just won't snack and I'll see how I feel. -

Your first sentence made me giggle I definitely don't eat very many processed foods. I did at first because I didn't know what else to eat. Usually I snack on almonds or pistachios, cheese, fruits, veggies. But at night when I'm watching TV I will bust out the chips and popcorn. I'm a salty snack person. I try to stay away from corn in general because I... -

Hi guys! I messaged cyclinglady yesterday but thought of reaching out to all of you for some support. I'm almost 5 months into this thing. My stomach is better. I rarely feel bloated. I rarely have any stomach pain at all. It wasn't terrible before, but I definitely notice a difference now. I'm about 15 lbs lighter. I don't look pregnant when I go to bed... -
Is carmex still gluten-free? I know they always were but their site no longer says anything about gluten. I also know they have a new product with colloidal oatmeal, so maybe they aren't safe anymore? I just use the original stick. I can't use eos. It tears up my lips. Should I stick with Carmex? i emailed them but don't know how responsive they are...

Ok, I just saw this. I kinda felt like my endo was pointless, to be honest. I had the high blood work and my doctor even said, like I wrote earlier, that regardless of my damage (even if I had none) he'd still diagnose me with celiac. So I thought, This is pointless. But it's still the gold standard in diagnosing someone. Sometimes people can have a...

Hey Shelby! I was diagnosed in November. What a ride. So, a few things. 1. I don't think you should assume anything about your villi until you have your endo. I was worried about this too. I asked my GI "what if my villi look normal?" He said that with my blood work there would be no other cause to my numbers aside from celiac. My TTG-iga was >10...

ARCHIVED Still losing weight
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just saw that you replied to this! My anxiety has been bad lately. It's been pretty terrible actually. But I am trying to keep things in perspective and not let myself get out of control. Like today I googled "floating stools" and panicked over my pancreas. Stuff like that. -
So none of that sounds worrisome to you?
-
I asked my husband if his poop ever floats and be looked at me like I was silly and said "it isn't supposed to? I have that all the time...." so even just personal experience with it helps ease my worries.
-
You'd think after having celiac I would be a poop expert, but I'm confused and I know you guys are way smarter than me. Here goes: I'm doing really well on my healing. I'm about 2.5 months in and my numbers are down. Last week I got the flu. Influenza. Yuck. Since then my stools have been "off". I have had D and then just loose stools. I have also noticed...

ARCHIVED Sharing my happy news!
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone! My doctor said that's a pretty significant change. I didn't know what to expect. Would you all agree with him?
