ARCHIVED Almost two months, symptoms still come and go
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey! So last night I ate corn chips. Not a ton but a decent amount (I never stick to serving sizes), and I woke up with a similar issue. Do you think it's the processed corn? I'm trying to keep a food journal but it seems like it's not consistent. Like, sometimes I'm fine eating something and then other times I'm not. I don't think it's all corn though because... -
Diagnosis has triggered health anxiety and I'm struggling

Is stage 3b a typical finding when someone is diagnosed? Or is that uncommon and severe? -
ARCHIVED Almost two months, symptoms still come and go
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I didn't realize I should lay off the popcorn until I'm healed. I'll just steer clear for now. I do like it, but I'll try again in a few months. -
ARCHIVED Almost two months, symptoms still come and go
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think that's my issue - I expect to always be 100 percent regular now that I'm off gluten. So when I'm not I assume that something is wrong with me. Maybe I need to lay off the fatty popcorn.... -

I should also say that the serving for this specific flavor is 2 cups and I probably ate twice that both times..... maybe even more....I chowed on that popcorn for like 30 min... -
ARCHIVED Almost two months, symptoms still come and go

I was diagnosed on November 8 and have been gluten free ever since. I struggled for the first month and then noticed my GI issues were improving. Yay! Now I'm noticing a setback and I don't know why. I'm being strict on my diet and cross contamination. I eat healthy. Last night I had some Indiana popcorn (had it the night before too) and woke up both days... -
Diagnosis has triggered health anxiety and I'm struggling
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was 29 and at stage 3b when I was diagnosed. I think that more than anything I worry that I've had this for so long. What damage could it have done? Is 29 young for a diagnosis? Old? My son's bloodwork shows he has celiac and his biopsy was at stage 1. He is 3 and thankfully we caught it early. But I do worry that I've had it for this many years, without... -
Diagnosis has triggered health anxiety and I'm struggling
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes I wonder if I'm just misinformed or if I'm researching myself into a frenzy. Like, how common is it for a person with celiac to get MS? I know that a percentage of people with MS have celiac, but I don't know what the stats are for someone with celiac having MS. My son has celiac and I'm terrified he is going to get type 1 diabetes. I don't have... -
Diagnosis has triggered health anxiety and I'm struggling
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sorry that you struggle with health anxiety too. It's awful. I know where it comes from. I come by it honestly. I'm an only child who witnessed a ton of trauma (surrounding illness) as a child. And nobody ever thought i should see a counselor. Then when I was about 21 I spiraled. And it's been hell ever since. For me, I have very few symptoms of anything... -
Diagnosis has triggered health anxiety and I'm struggling
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I say I'm obsessed with what I eat I mean that I'm obsessed with more than just gluten. I constantly think "could this cause cancer? Could this hurt my liver? Is this too much sodium?" Christmas is coming and I want to be happy. I just want to crawl into bed and cry. -
I was diagnosed with celiac in November, and my toddler was officially diagnosed this month. I have taken it in stride and have powered through, as I know I have no other options. I also wasn't totally shocked, because I have a family history of celiac and a few other autoimmune diseases. that said, I have major health anxiety. I was always a healthy...

It's also "that time" of the month for me. So maybe it's my hormones.

So an accidental glutening here and there isn't going to send me back to my marsh stage and the levels of inflammation I had in my endoscopy last month?
-
Maybe my system was just thinking "what the hell?" When I ate the Doritos. Maybe it isn't gluten but a reaction to garbage food. Yesterday wasn't a healthy day for me. We were on the road so I ate junk. I had a good breakfast. But I had gluten-free crackers, gluten-free potato chips, and a piece of cheese for lunch. Then I had an udi's pizza for dinner...

I knew they weren't healthy, but I just wanted some. This has always been my question though. If I do accidentally get glutened do I basically start over at square 1? I know it's not a good thing to be glutened but does it totally derail my healing if it happens occasionally? Im doing my best.
-
I looked on that site too and they're listed under "products not containing gluten ingredients" and people in this forum said they are safe. What am I missing? and if I'm wrong and they do have gluten did I totally undo all of the progress I've made by eating them?
-
I have had a really good couple weeks. I felt ok and my stools were more normal than they have been in a long time. I was really happy. then, today when I woke up I had runny stools. I have no idea why. I'm positive I wasn't glutened. I did eat some cool ranch Doritos last night but after doing a lot of research I thought they were safe. I have no idea...

ARCHIVED Endo for child?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well we went ahead with the endo. I didn't want to do it but I know that the doctors at children's are great and I also didn't even think about the fact that he would probably need the endo for school exceptions. It was ok. It was a fast procedure and we were out of there 2 hours after the endo. It will take a week to hear from them. I'm glad we did it,... -
ARCHIVED Visible inflammation in endoscopy
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Also, I was at stage 3b when I was diagnosed. -
ARCHIVED Does anyone else get canker sores?
Fbmb replied to Ariel90's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've gotten them my whole life. I get less now than I did when I was a teenager and in my early 20s. I've heard a connection to celiac but haven't researched it. Usually now when I get them it's from biting my lip. But I used to get them all the time, especially when I was stressed. They do hurt really bad -
ARCHIVED Visible inflammation in endoscopy
Fbmb posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Did anyone else have visible inflammation when they had their endoscopy before being officially diagnosed? I did, so my doctor checked for h-pylori also. I was negative for that. I thought the damage from celiac was only visible under a microscope. Is it normal to be able to see the inflammation? (Not the villi, obviously, but the inflammation). -
We will be in Denver today and I don't know what to eat. I'm newly diagnosed and have been eating at home. My aunt and uncle have celiac and said that five guys is safe because they don't put anything into their fryers except for fries and my uncle has never had a problem with a burger without a bun. what do you guys think? We love Chick-fil-A but I...

ARCHIVED Endo for child?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
And before I decided to go ahead and do it I was set on not doing it. So he was gluten free for a week. I put him back on gluten a week ago. Is that week without gluten going to screw this up? Or is a week really no big deal? He's been eating tons of gluten for a week now. But the week before I had him on my diet. -
ARCHIVED Endo for child?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't specifically ask them if they'd diagnose him without it. They told me that it was my choice and that they believe he has it, because his blood results were high. His doctor said that she is 98% sure he has it, even without the endo. One of our NP's said she thinks this is pointless because it isn't going to tell us anything. My endo didn't tell me... -
ARCHIVED Endo for child?
Fbmb replied to Fbmb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had decided about 2 weeks ago that we weren't going to do it. So I took him off gluten for a week. Then the doctor convinced us to do this. I put him back on gluten last week but I'm worried that his biopsy won't show damage since he was off for a week. My nurse friend said that he wouldn't have healed in a week and that he should be fine to have it done...
