hi will i guess ill be the odd one out here and say how discusted i was that melinda was voted out. same with la kisha. im not 16 and frankly think there is enough teeny boppers out there with a microphone in their hands. jordan is talented but she is only 17 and frankly not good looking at all. blake is nice looking and a good singer but the minute he starts that beat boxing crap i want to flick the channel. i take solace in the fact other than kelly the winner of this show never really goes anywhere and that the people who come 3rd and 4th do.

    just my 2 cents

Your of the same opinion as Simon Scowl. Boy did he look unhappy last night. hehe

OMGOSH!!!! Are you kidding me!!??? Melinda went home! Yahoo!!! I like Melinda just fine, but she's going to get recording contracts and all sorts of things anyway, I really wanted one of the other two to win! Yeah!!!!

I agree. This is what I thought would happen right in the beginning. I like Melinda and she'll do good with a recording career but I wanted the actual winner to be one of the younger kids. I remember how important music was when I was a teenager and I think eigher Blake or Jordin will be great as Idols.

The way Simon talked last night, I think Blake will go home tonight. I hope not though. I did not think it was right for him to say He wants Melinda in the final 2. How do you think Jordin and Blake felt upon hearing that.

Simon ticked me off last night with his comments toward Jordin. I think she sounded great and to say her first performance wasn't her best because he didn't like how the arrangements sounded ummmm how is she suppose to control that. Her last song was so awesome and he just slams it by saying it was an old hit, like the hit "I am woman" sung by Melinda wasn't? I hate that song BTW, uggh

I think he's wants Melinda to win and didn't give Blake or Jordin a fair chance.

Hopefully nobody was influenced by his unfair comments.

  4. what a nightmare! I'd be so angry your doctor won't sit down and listen to you. What does it take for heavens sake. You've gone this far so my advice is same as the others don't stop eating gluten foods until you get testing done. If it's not celiac you have to know what it is.

My story wasn't as bad as yours but similar. I just stopped eating gluten got better and never looked back. We pay for our own insurance with a very high deductible and I just didn't want to pay for all the tests. From all your symptoms I'd be surprised if you didn't have it. Good luck and hang in there.

  5. I'm watching the View this morning and Rosie and Elizabeth are asking to vote for Blake tonight. Apparently he's the likely one to get voted off. At this point it's going to be hard to see anyone of those left to be voted off. I'm sure I'll feel bad and frustrated. They're all good. Enjoy the show!

  6. I'm sorry to hear you don't get that many good days. Its taking me about two years now to figure out its just not gluten that bothers me. I remember reading one of your posts where you got sick and thinking its got to be something other then gluten since you seem to be so careful.

Hope you feel better soon. Maybe eat those same foods you ate during those two good food days again to see if you get the same results and add other foods alittle at a time and record the results.

  7. I'm guessing it's not a hidden ingredient. Usually flavorings are spices, or chemicals that for instance make something taste like strawberry but not actually using strawberries. There's a big lab/factory that comes up with these flavorings. I wouldn't think oats has enough flavor to be used under natural flavors because it doesn't have enough flavor to lend. Natural flavors are usually one of the last ingredients. I've never heard of it being used for MSG.

ok now your just scaring me. haha. i don't want any more problems. not sure what it could be but i know whenever i eat somethings that are "hard" to digest i'll say like stuff with vitamins i'll say cuz i don't eat much of anything having been widdled down to JUST white rice in an IBS thought...seems whenever foods contained alot of vitamins (or like nuts or seeds, um fruit fresh fruit) on the label there my symptoms increased. like the other week when i frist started and thought i was cured. i had a good sized meal with soy milk labeled gluten free which filled me up for about 20 minutes i'll say then i could feel it just begin to run through; instead of fueling like i should go mow the lawn because, yes, i am a male...i can feel it in my bowels or somewhere like i have a hole or something, it won't go to my body; i urinated every hour until morning; just sits on or in or as my bladder; wish i could explain it better heck maybe then my doctor would be more concerned, but like i said i got so many problems!!...so i stick to bland and light or elementless foods for now--with the gluten free showing positive turn around.

    thanks again

If your food isn't giving you energy and liquids like water are going right through you I would first suspect diabeties. Those are two of the symptoms that show you are having trouble with blood glucose. I would have this check out right away.

Do you do better eating proteins? Try not to eat to many sugar containing foods or fruits until you can get it check out.

And drink the water even though it goes through you.

Wow! I can safely say that I do not react the same way as you when i ingest gluten knowingly or not. My reactions always very from one thing to the next except maybe store bought brownies from my local 7-11 store usually reaction within 2 hours with that usually very gassy stomoch and a blow out in the AM early sometimes and Brownies are my absolute favorite sweets of all time, So I am having a heard time with that. If I do get gluten using regular items to make my spegetti usually burns going down or it could be the tomato sauce and paste that I use, I strongly believe that i have a food allergy to Tomatos, I simply can not have fresh tomatos or I do what you do when you get gluten, not immediatly but soon after along with very gassy that is gets trapped in and I hurt everywhere fells like in 10 months preggers. I have tomotey items like katch-up tomato, suace, tomato paste usually I just get gassy, but I do get very sick with the real thing. I aslo get very gassy with avacodos, so I have read that tomatos and avacodos are just some of the items listed for Latex allergies, but I'm ok with bannas and kiwi (well that I know of)

    Donna

I cannot have tomato products either. Oranges will bother me too. Anything really that is high in acid.

I'm from Green Bay and I have been tested for celiac disease many times all coming back negative. I have tryed a gluten free diet for a month about a year ago and felt great! But then I listened to the Dr. with my negative results and went off the diet because it is fairly expensive. My symptoms got worse and I started migranes again so I went back on the diet a week ago and am already feeling sooo much better even lost a little weight! :) What I need is some advice on ways to cut some of the costs. Any suggestions?

If I had to cut back on the cost of groceries I would have alot of rice and bean type dishes. There's many mexican dishes that are inexpensive. I also would make alot of soups and freeze them in those ziplock plastic containers. I wouldn't buy much G.F. breads or mixes, just maybe as a treat now and then. The breads never taste that great anyway. You can make great pizzas by using G.F. tortillas for crust. The ones I use are made with millet flour at Down To Earth on Velp Ave. in Howard. Cornbread is always a hit around our house and easy to make from scratch.

You'll still have to buy cereals but I think all cereals are expensive even the gluten ones. Anything you make homemade will be cheaper then a mix. I bought a 25 lb. bag of gluten free flour blend (online) and it's been lasting me for over a year now. I store it in my freezer. I'll make most of my cookies from scratch. Somethings are cheaper in bulk like at amazon .com and shipping is cheap if you buy a certain amount. You have to know the product and like it otherwise you're not saving anything if you decide you don't like it. I'm going to buy my Larabars there next time I have something else to order. I figured it out and they'll cost 1.50 there and I'm paying 1.85 at the healthfood store I'm buying them at.

Otherwise the best store to go to is Woodmans. Much cheaper then anyother store around.

For those of you who watched previous years...

    Who were your favorites?

Who were the guys/girls that you just couldn't stand?

My favorites that didn't win were Tamyra Gray ( I think she was in the first season) remember everyone was shocked she was voted off. It made me so mad and realized you can't take your vote for granted and not vote for someone just because you think their safe.

Also someone who very similar to Tamyra, Nadia Turner. I loved her outfits more then anyone else on the show. I think she also had a great personality. I was mad she was voted off way to soon.

I liked Constantine although I knew he wouldn't make it to the end I liked him.

I liked Bo Bice too.....I like the music style he sings. Good memories of blue grass.

So many I didn't like but can't remember the names. Like the guy that sounded like Frank Sinatra who was real pale. That girl from Hawaii, I can see their faces but don't remember the names, usually the ones that got the pity votes because they looked weird.

  12. I don't know what it is but Blake has lost my interest. I differently think his hair color makes him look plain and just dull looking. He wasn't great at his first song but I thought he could of easily won over the judges with his second but he choose a song that nobody ever heard of and I always think that's a risk. That set him up for the b-box criticism.

Lakisha is my choice to get the boot tonight. She been hanging on by a thread,...time to take the scissors to it.

Melinda's always good but that's can be boring too, she's to predictable. I like her yet I don't think she'll be a big hit with record sales. She doesn't have that youthfulness about her. She looks like a well preserved 35 year old and isn't that what we got last year with Taylor Hicks. :( I just realized how mean that sounded....sorry.

So my vote goes to Jordin to win now. I always loved her and her first song was great. She was off pitch with the second song but I think she is so young that she probably hasn't heard it that many times. I really think it's between her and Dolittle.

  13. Vincent, I'm so glad you found out how to eat. I was abit worried for you at one point when you said you where eating the high glycemic fruits like bananas and something else that I thought was alittle to high in sugar. I know I eat more fat and protein then most people but it's what makes me feel good. The trouble is I don't always feel hungry when I get hungry and then it's too late. So I just stick to scheduled meals usually every three to four hrs. and eat something before I go to bed. I hope you can stave off the diabeties diagnoses for a good long time.

Thanks for the post I'm sure it'll help people.

    Gail

  14. Most of the meals I eat tend to be low in carbs or especially low in any grains so what will happen with me is I'll get a craving for a big plate of spaghetti. Since it'll drive me crazy until I have it I'll make my special spaghetti sauce and of course tinkyada spaghetti noodles (I LOVE them) and eat usually way to much. The only thing is I'm heading off to bed by 9:00 that evening. Then the next day I'm tired too. Its one of those foods where I can't stop eating once I start.

    Gail

  15. My guess with the dry mouth is the increase of carbs to the diet. There is potato starch in many of the mixes and breads which is high in the glycemic index. You might be prediabetic and your body dumps the excess sugar by excreting it in the urine so you'll tend to be more thirsty. Its a big change in your diet and you have to adjust it gradually. I think a big mistake many people make is trying all the gluten free bakery, breads and desserts in quantities that your not used to. I would suggest to watch your total carb count and keep it at a limit and see if the dry mouth goes away. Remember too that there is also no fiber in these gluten free goods so it doesn't have the advantage of a slow release of sugar into the bloodstream that the fiber gives.

    Anyway play around with it,

I just watched it with my kids - we DVR it and watch it the next day - they love it. And they LOVE Jordin. She's their favorite and mine too. I think it will come down to her and Blake. I like them both, but I think her sound is more universal....

I think Lakisha and Melinda have great voices, but I don't think they're very original. THey are kind of old fashioned and I can't figure out what type of album they'd put out. Probably not one I'd listen to or buy. So that makes me lean towards Jordin - I think she'll put out the type of music I'd be more likely to buy...

Thats what I've been saying too, you want someone who's young, spirited and original. I think both the black girls could go on to do broadway or other events like that.

    Gail

  17. I used to imitate Edith Ann to my friends to make them laugh. Later I would do her to my boys when they were little. I'd put my hair in pig tails and put lip stick outside my lips. Then did the one where she says, My brother had the chicken pox last week...I took a black magic marker and connected all the dots................... and thats the truth, blllliiiibbpppiibbb

There a commercial out now that has music that they used to play on laugh in. See if you can recognize it. I don't remember what advertiser it is right now.

    Gail

  18. I agree Haley's getting votes from hormonal teenage boys. I don't see any talent that would make her an idol. Lakisha and Melinda are equally talented but I guess you would vote for the personality when it comes to a draw. I thought Lakisha looked more friendly last night. She usually looks like she's PMS'in

One of my favorite C.D.s is the Santana one with Rob Thomas singing the song that Chris sang last night and thought he butched it. But how can you come close to Rob? :P

My favorite was Blake last night. He was the best best best. Love his voice. I hope he wins.

I think Phil's going tonight. He looks like he's ready for it to.

Did Paula seem out of it last night? She was on something. I know she has the trouble with neck and back pain. Must of been acting up.

    Gail

  19. I had no idea that was in their bread although I have maybe buy one loaf a year. I did make their chocolate cake for a birthday about a month ago. I didn't feel good during the night, I remember feeling hot and unable to sleep well.

I guess I must of thought it was a pea starch or flour but I googled pea protein and it is a concentrated protein usually added to boost nutrition and protein content. Then your right it becomes a freed glutamate which I have to avoid being very sensitive to MSG. You can buy it in a can like whey protein powder to put in protein drinks.

Well thanks for the heads up I'll never buy it again.

    Gail

  20. The mistakes I've made that I think may be common were;

    1. The ingredient barley malt. Its in cereals and some rice milks maybe even some soy milk.

    2. I bought a mix for buckwheat pancakes and had them two days in a row before I realized it also had wheat listed. I thought it said buckwheat and it did but it listed wheat right after it and didn't see it.

    3. I grabbed a bag of corn tostita type chips that were on sale because I was running low on money. I again started eating them and realized I should look at the ingredients because you should take nothing for grated and low and behold wheat. You have to ask in resturants if wheat is an ingredients in their corn chips.

    4. Wheat is in alot of shampoos

    5. If something says wheatfree it doesn't mean its gluten free. Alot of cereals will say wheat free but they won't be gluten free. Its tricky if your not paying attention.

Some bread advice. The hardest part will be in the beginning when your making the transistion. You still remember how wheat bread tasted and you feel let down by anything else. I was buying breads made with rice and I hated how it stuck to your teeth. Rice breads will tend to do that. Now they have flour blends that have tapioca starches and bean starches that give the bread a better texture. I still find they taste better toasted. The further the memory of wheat bread is the more accepting you get with gluten-free bread. I remember tasting Kinnickinick bread for the first time and thought I was in heaven after eating the rice breads for awhile.

It gets easier as time goes on. I would try and find a pizza he'll like because that's a big part of kids diet.

:( I am from Wisconsin and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy my Gluten free food. I am having a hard time finding places... Thanks

For those who don't mind going to Green Bay for some shopping you can go to any Festival Foods store and they'll have a natural food aisle that has your gluten free choices. They have a selection from Grandma Ferdons(sp?) the bakery from Hayward. She has a lot of desserts so I don't buy them since I prefer to bake my own. They'll have all your Kinnickinick(sp?) breaks with the donuts and pizza crusts. They have redbridge beer, tinkyada pastas, pamela's mixes, all your cereals, almond milk, and diamond crackers. They have a great meat department. I like going thee just for that.

Woodmans is a hugh store on hwy.41 has a nice selection too. Food for life bread, and Glutano's, schar crackers, all your more familar baking mixes, hugh Bob's red mill selection, Amy's frozen foods and canned, health valley soups. The prices at this store are much cheaper then any other store. Its amazing how much cheaper.

There's a health food store in the north area of Green Bay called Down To Earth that has bread and Pizza crust from Sami's bakery. Very good millet bread. There is a new store not far from thee called Naked Foods that have a nice selection of Grandma Ferdenons, Nana's cookies, and a nice selection of health foods. I'll buy Applegate bacon and lunch meats with no nitrites. I just bought a organic prairie hardwood smoked uncured ham for my Easter dinner.

We still don't have Resturants that have a gluten free menu. I think there's a market here for one. The city is big enough for goodness sake. There is an Olive Garden, and a seafood place called Marty's that I'll go to for grilled Salmon. They're just down from the Packer Stadium on the same road.

I guess Appleton has a health food store that has good bakery but again I don't bother going really I don't have sweets that much.

Wisconsin cheese is everywhere if your dairy tolerant.

Any other questions you have I'll be happy to answer. I love Madison. I have two sisters living there.
