  1. Wow. Now I must also look for citric acid, confectioner's sugar, corn flour, corn fructose, corn meal, corn oil, corn syrup, dextrin and dextrose, fructose, lactic acid, malt, mono- and diglycerides, monosodium glutamate, sorbitol, and starch.
  2. Is there an allergy test for corn?
  3. I was extremely frustrated late last week and this week when I felt gluten. I have been very careful to eat gluten-free. A common ingredient I was eating was corn, hard shell corn tortillas and a bag of gluten-free black bean chips with corn. I checked the box of corn tortillas and it listed gluten-free and black bean chips had the gluten-free label...
  4. Let me make this clear. I have not purposely eat gluten in the last 3 mo. since being diagnosed. But had accidentally had medicine and some food that may of had because of cross contamination or not recognizing it on a food label. Who hasn't.
  5. Ever since being diagnosed almost 3 mo. ago I'm getting increased joint pain/tingling. And I've also starting getting (on some days) pains in my eye, sore throats, and pain areas on my neck to the touch. I will admit I've found out what I put in my mouth did contain gluten on 'some' occasions over the last 3 mo. after being diagnosed. But I'm hardly eating...
  6. You might be like me and need to get a vitamin and mineral panel blood test. And make sure it includes iron. We both might be deficient in certain vitamins/minerals. My medicals bills have been so high I've put it off and just started taking a multivitamin instead. But I'm not sure it has it in what I really might be deficient. So I'm going to spend...
  7. I'm celiac for less than 3 months. I'm starting to get concern about getting all the necessary vitamins being gluten free. Recently my joint pain has increased, pulsating pain in my head, and sore areas in legs and neck have started recently. Or course, anxiety too. I'm currently taking a Centrum Men's Multivitamin. Here's what in it: Vitamin...
  8. I'm an engineer that was diagnosed a couple months. Instead of going out for lunches I bring in most lunches and have to bring in a snack (gluten-free muffin) to eat around 3-4pm. I spend 1/2 of my time when I get home cooking dinner, preparing tomorrows lunch or also getting groceries. Won't be attending company Christmas dinners, summer barbecues...
  9. They offer gluten free buns at $2 a pop. I get the grilled chicken sandwich w/gluten-free bun and apple slices. I only put lettuce, tomato, and onions on it. Tough keeping the bun from falling apart. I don't have severe symptoms so can't say for sure if I ate all gluten-free.
  10. I've had them a few times and don't think I've been gluten-ed. Not bad when you can find them. They are in a sealed bag.
  11. Ok. I've been celiac for about just less than 1 mo. So I thought people were worried about cosmetics, shampoo and sunscreens because gluten entering the body thru the skin was an issue. Now I understand it's only an issue if ingested. I don't plan on eating my shampoo or my sunscreen. Why are people worried about shampoo and sunscreen? I...
  12. I've been using Neutrogena Ulta Sheer Dry Touch sunscreen. I don't think it's gluten free. But it's non-greasy, and non-smelling. Is there a similar non-greasy, and non-smelling gluten free alternative?
  13. Your rat poison argument is lame. I have been gluten for over 40 years until diagnosed 2 wks ago. And it started at birth. I don't think 1-2 month of gradual reduction of gluten is going to kill me or damage my villi much worse than it is now. I feel worse now after going gluten free than I did being gluten. Why...because of the shock to my system...
  14. Ok, I get it. A person is celiac and gluten is bad. But why immediately go 100% gluten free. Seems really stupid to me. Why aren't patients given a gradual reduction lowering gluten levels. Instead to shocking their body/brain/etc. of a drastic change of going cold turkey gluten free?
  15. I was officially diagnosed a celiac for just under 2 wks. Every since going gluten-free I almost always have varying level of a headache the whole day. My right eye was a little sore too yesterday. As I get more hungry the pain seems to increase, and get some brain fog. I had a followup today with GI doc and he didn't think it was a big issue. ...
  16. I would now be treated for IBS if I didn't question on my followup after being told I had IBS "what about my flattened intestine from the endoscopy". And my GI doc who did the endoscopy ordered another scan of my biopsy. Then from that result decided to do a blood test for gluten antibodies. They did a bunch of blood tests right after my endoscopy....
  17. Your GI doc might of been looking for a flattened intestine during the endoscopy. And didn't see any flattened areas. I don't know what the percentages are, but a flattened intestine usually means villi has been damaged from eating gluten if your celiac.
  18. Maybe I wasn't clear. Long story, but my biopsy was done first, and gluten antibody blood test done second. I know that backwards but I thought my stomach issues were an ulcer because my symptoms were very bad when I was extremely stressed over the health of a family member. My GI doc. reported a slightly flattened intestine from endoscopy. One a followup...
  19. My pathologist said I "may" have celiac. And these were my IgA Total IgA 138 mg/dL 68 - 408 mg/dL Tissue Transglutam,IgA 11 U/mL 0 - 3 U/mL Gliadin Peptide Ab, IgA 98 Units 0 - 19 Units Should of more blood tests be done? I was told I was celiac.
  20. You might try drinking one Ensure Plus a day...not cheap though.
  21. Ensure Plus contains vitamins and minerals needed for celiac. Also, helps to keep ON weight.....expensive though. I can only handle drinking a half bottle at a time. I drink half in the morning and half in the evening. Good luck. Open Original Shared Link
  22. So I was told my gluten antibody blood test came back positive. The second time my biopsy was tested it came back positive a couple weeks ago. I have a followup visit with my GI doc. this week. Most common of my pre-diagnosis symptoms was my stomach was growling/gurgling. I really noticed it after I ate some Synder's Sourdough pretzels......
  23. That's interesting. When I was eating gluten (before being told i maybe celiac last week) those were my symptoms most of the time. When my stress level was really high I got tingling in legs, leg cramps, brain fog and severe stomach pains. Couple times I had rashes.
  24. Thanks for everyone's responses.
  25. I wasn't gluten free during endoscopy of blood test.
