ARCHIVED Indian Food & First Time Out - Need Sugestions
katshow replied to Kirian's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi! I know that every Indian place is different, but all the ones in my area (Oregon) that I've been to, don't have any gluten in anything other than the bread which is obvious. My favorite is the Chicken Makahani!! It's so good and I've never been glutened! -
I hate to be the downer on this because I when to OSF and was really excited that they had gluten-free noodles. The meal tasted great, but I was SOOO sick after. I was told the only sauce to have was the brown butter and cheese and it may have been gluten-free, but I think just all the gluten in the environment there might have done me in. This was at...

I agree with all of you, I'd love to have a dr on my side that would work with me. However, I'm also tired of watching all the medical bills come in every month and having no progress made in my actually feeling better. I'm tired of going to dr's that just think I'm nuts and then paying hundreds for their quack opinion. I'm just looking for something I...

I was told by my doctor that the elimination diet wouldn't be something that would work for me because I've had an anaphylactic reaction to wheat and that it would be too much of a risk to try this with other foods. That's all the information that I have and I took a regular allergy test, but all it showed was wheat. I know that wheat and gluten are...

So I'm convinced that I have some other food intolerances that are affecting how I feel. I am severely allergic to wheat though, and so the elimination diet is not recommended. I've heard about the Lame Advertisement and York tests and I know they are expensive, but if I can't do the elimination diet, would this be the best way to figure out what else is...

ARCHIVED Proactiv Solution For Acne
katshow replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm suprised so many people have liked Proactive! My husband and I both tried it and it made our skin much worse. My skin may be a little sensative, but his is tough as nails and it made both of us break out like crazy! It made my skin SUPER dry, red and then I got more acne. I was not a fan at all. I use a Clindamyicn gel now and that works great... -
I've gone to Taco Bell a few times since going gluten-free and have been safe with the tostada. I also just checked their website and found these suggestions: Suggestions for Wheat and Gluten Sensitive Individuals - Tostada - Fiesta Taco Salad (order Chicken instead of Beef; order without the shell and without the Red Strips) - Express Taco Salad...

Hi guys! I love Larabars, but since most only have a few ingredients, does anyone know how to make them? They should be easy in theory... If anyone has a recipe, I'd love to see it! Thanks!

ARCHIVED Celiac Reaction From An Allergy Test?
katshow replied to katshow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you! I feel the exact same way. I know that I have a reaction when I eat gluten, I was just trying to see if anything else aggrevated my condition. I never had asthma before this new reaction, but the dr said that I do now. It's all so weird but I really appreciate all of your help! Thank you again! -
ARCHIVED Celiac Reaction From An Allergy Test?
katshow replied to katshow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you everyone! It's just good to know that I'm not crazy! I was so frustrated with that dr!! I learn so much more from this site than I ever have from a doctor! Thank you! -
ARCHIVED Celiac Reaction From An Allergy Test?
katshow replied to katshow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Right it would have seemed that I did have an allergic reaction, but nothing showed up on my skin. The DR said that to have that sort of reaction to a skin prick test is impossible, but everytime I have gluten, I have trouble breathing. I know there are a few other people on this site that have had similar reactions to gluten. I was just trying to get... -
I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Whenever I get glutented, I have a very hard time breathing and the only thing that will help me is Benedryl and an inhaler. I know that this is my symptom and I'm getting more used to it. I had a skin prick test with various foods (corn, wheat, soy, milk, etc) and immidiately after, I had my normal...

ARCHIVED Ignorant Server Of The Day
katshow replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I went to a health food market near my work to get some lunch, because I figured being a health food store they might be a little more informed. They had a tomato soup that looked good, so I asked if it had any gluten (wheat, barely etc) in it. She said, "No, no, no, it's vegetarian!" Haha! Then I went to a Mexican restaurant and asked to speak to a... -

ARCHIVED Bare Essentials
katshow replied to katshow's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I just went to the Bare Essentials store and got my colors done and it has very good color and coverage. It really does feel like I'm not wearing anything! I was going to get it there but the starter kit was $75 and $60 at Sephora, so I ended up getting it there. I hope I can put it on as well as she did! Thanks for the help guys! -
ARCHIVED Bare Essentials
katshow replied to katshow's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you for all your help! I really appreciate it! I'm glad that you don't have to reapply this often. I hate being that girl always with a compact in hand. How long would you say a normal sized amount of the foundation lasts? -

ARCHIVED Bare Essentials
katshow posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So as a newbie, I've been trying to have a totally gluten free lifestyle which includes makeup, shampoos and everything else. I just got rid of all my old makeup and went for Neutrogena (stuff that I know is gluten free) because it's cheaper than Lancome and Bare Essentials. I've tried a few different kinds now of the foundation and it makes me breakout... -

ARCHIVED Dreams About Food - A New Thing
katshow replied to DingoGirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow I'm so glad to see we're all having dreams like this! I always dream that I didn't check some label or ingredients and just ate something carelessly, only to find out later that it had gluten in it! Then I spend the rest of the dream freaking out! I'm looking forward to when these stop!! -
I worked in restaurants for many years and I've found that a manager is very helpful if you approach them before a problem arises. They love to make things right before they go wrong. Yesterday I went to a Mexican restaurant and asked to talk to the manager. I made sure I went at a time when I knew they wouldn't be slammed (11AM right as they opened) and...

ARCHIVED Kraft Mac And Cheese Shake On Cheese!
katshow replied to Becky6's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know any place else to find this? Near me I have Whole Foods, QFC, Safeway, Albertsons and that's about it. My last chance is Albertsons before I buy it online. Any ideas? -
I agree! I've had great experiences at Outbacks! I went there for my birthday in February and ordered food that I had memorized as gluten free off their website. I guess someone had told her about my birthday and she brought out the "Spotted Dog" sundae which has Oreos on it for my birthday treat. I thanked her and told her that'd I'd give this to my...

ARCHIVED Who Makes Little Packets Of Condiments?
katshow replied to munchkinette's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow this is really awesome! My husband is Japanese and we eat a lot of Japanese stuff out. This will be awesome to keep with me on hand! We had just been putting it in little to go containers, but this would be much easier to go somewhere on a "whim." Thank you!!
