  1. I was told a product (Minute Maid products) "Meet’s Codex definition of gluten free which is currently less than 200 parts per million gluten" - does that mean this is safe for us Celiacs or no?
  2. Is this something normal for Celiacs? I'm still somewhat of a newbie. I go to bed exhausted. Get tired late in the day usually and I sleep throughout the night, but wake up exhausted. I haven't had a good night's sleep in two weeks at least. Anyone have thoughts?
  3. It appears so from the bottle, but being a relative newbie, I still am not 100% sure of what is fully safe.
  4. The good thing in all of this, is all of these postings are not only providing us humor when we need it, but gives us the opportunity to teach restaurants. That's what we need to remember. I do feel bad for some reading some of these (the pancake batter girl - I feel for you!). I think the important thing to do as a follow up is to write a letter/notecard...
  5. I grew up in the Burgh, live in Denver now, but I did check this site out for planning my visit in November. Open Original Shared Link It's a far better site then the Denver's Celiac website. I was so excited to come back home after four years and eat a Primanti's sandwich, then an Eat 'n Park smiley cookie - then I got my diagnosis. Oh well...it...
  6. I've got the Costco brand (Kirkland) and the bottle says "gluten-free"
  7. I received a list today via email from Einstein's of their food and allergens. I can't quite figure out how to post their chart in here, as it's quite long. If you email me at denverguy67@hotmail.com, I can forward the Word document to you.
  8. From Panera as of 4/25/06 Thank you for contacting Panera Bread. I have included below a list of our gluten-free menu items. Not all of these items are currently on our menu and some new menu items have not yet been evaluated for the purposes of this list. However, you can find complete ingredients listings for all current menu items on our website. Click...
  9. Hi Natascha - I am in Denver, so thanks for that tip. Email if you'd like to exchange more ideas/tips. I just was diagnosed two weeks ago. Steve denverguy67@hotmail.com
  10. Hi Judy, yes I am in Denver. For as often as I eat at RR, it won't be a huge issue. It is one of those places my friends and I will gather from time to time over baskets of fries to laugh and get caught up, so those yummy fries are hopefully in my future. Thanks for the info.
  11. are the fries at RR safe to eat?
  12. These responses have all been helpful, thank you. I am frustrated, yes, being it's so new. I started a journal last night to help guide my thoughts. One thing I know I am doing that will help me through this, is I am preparing a cookbook for holiday gifts. It's not a gluten-free cookbook, but I am titling it "These Are A Few of My Favorite Things". ...
  13. As a newbie, when I tell people I have Celiac, and I have to have a gluten free diet for the rest of my life, I often times get "Oh, I'd die if I couldn't eat _________." I struggle with how to respond to their statement. It's pure ignorance on their part. What I might try out is, "Well, I WILL die if I eat __________." It's so frustrating to hear...
  14. Thanks, everyone. It's nice to have this kind of support. I can't imagine doing this without the Internet. I got a little scared today, since I am moving into the "unknown zone" but then I calmed down and realized, there is no reason to be scared. This is a healthy change, one I am in control of with my diet, so no reason to be scared.
  15. Just want to officially say hi to everyone and let them know this message board has been a huge help for me. I received my blood work results almost a week ago, and am awaiting my biopsy results, but the doc said for the most part, "You've got Celiac". So, I will trying to bring awareness to this disease among family and friends. I know my mom will not...
  16. As a newbie (just diagnosed with blood test last week, awaiting biopsy results), this message board has saved me, and this forum (Ignorant Server) has given me the humor I need! Keep it up. I've got a boss who consistently tells me she'd die without beer or pizza. I feel like telling her she is going to go F*ck herself since I enjoy pizza, too. And our...
  17. One of my FAVORITE passover recipes is basically gluten free - and it's yummy! Flourless Chocolate Cake 8 oz chocolate chips 1/2 cup butter 8 eggs, seperated 1 tsp vanilla. 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup sugar Preheat oven to 350. Melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring occassionally. Beat egg yolks with vanilla and 3/4 cup sugar. Gradually...
  18. I just got diagnosed myself on Monday. Still cry at times since I realize I am giving up yummy things. Then I realize I might not have to. I just got 10 cookbooks out of the library on gluten free cooking. How fantastic is that?! And, I am going to call my newspaper and see if they want to do a story on Celiac, gluten free cooking and recipes. Bring...
