  1. Whey is fine......I know it's some form of milk, such as a protein.....can't remember what part of the milk...anyway, always gluten-free.
  2. Kinnickinick......not sure of spelling.... I've tried a fair number of breads and, like the majority of the board, like this one best.
  3. Thank you for sharing. I'm sure this will be helpful for many while eating out or traveling.

    ARCHIVED Nutritionist In Ny?

Anne Lee (nutritionist that works with Dr. Greene) is in Manhattan.....dunno about Queens, though....
  5. I would assume that you're referring to when you START a new thread. If a topic is not yet pinned, it is towards the back of the forum. When a moderator reads it and decides it's in the correct forum, it will be in the front. Until then, you need to go towards the back of the forum to find it. Topics are organized as follows: 1. Pinned topics ...
  6. All I can say is: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. It is expensive to buy gluten-free foods. there are people who will say that there isn't a difference in expense as long as you stick to mainstream products. This is true, but the problem is that you're not going to want to cut all breads, pastas, cookies, and 80-90% of the mainstream products in your supermarket...
  7. endos aren't a big deal.......i've had two; one within the past two weeks. The first time i had no symptoms, second time some cramping from the gas that got in me during the procedure and some vomiting from the anysthesia.......that was a longer and more invasive biopsy.....anyway, if you don't like needles, they also have some gas thing to get you "giggly...
  8. Tea bags? I'm not particular about what tea I drink -- I just have regular Lipton decaffeinated bags.........gluten-free
  9. Definitely not too many with gluten.....as long as it isn't some special flavor or something. On many, you can tell from the label that it's gluten-free. Although I highly doubt gluten from cream cheese, I stick with Philadelphia since it's made by Kraft and therefore, they would have to show gluten on the label
  10. Thanks, everyone. I got my results! And I haven't been sick since the biopsy and that was from the anysthesia (yay! knock-on-wood). The doctor just called and said that: - The villi are looking good! Healed and grown back - No additional intolerances or allergies. - Stay away from complex sugars and tomato sauce just to be safe, since...
  11. well, some Advils are gluten-free as are some Tylenols. I think I use the extra strength caplets from Tylenol
  12. Dannon plain yogurt is gluten-free and so is all of Yoplait. I made a post awhile ago under the food products section about food lists since I e-mailed a lot of companies. I have a Haagen-Dazs ice cream list there. The same goes for them as many other ice cream companies; avoid cookie dough, cookies n' cream, and cheesecake-flavored ice creams. And...
  13. First off, if you have an issue with weight, the gluten-free diet alone might solve it (if it's due to celiac). Heinz Ketchup is gluten-free -- if you e-mail them, they'll give you a gluten-free list. Check the celiac.com site index....you can get lists of forbidden ingredients and go to a mainstream list of gluten-free........whatever you want...
  14. Not much to add in the way of food, but just to let you know, coin-op hasn't been banned from the boards...2/3 warned, so close, but not banned...so this lack of posting was voluntary
  15. Regular coffee is gluten-free -- you do need to call about those flavored coffee mixes, though
  16. As long as they're well-washed, the pans should be okay. One surface to avoid is teflon--really difficult to remove all the gluten from. It's good to hear that you use that many pots and pans instead of reusing everything multiple times........
  17. Try celiac.com.....first off, Open Original Shared Link There's a wealth of info. on this site...many articles, lists, product names.......always check this site for info. cause it has a lot of everything.
  18. Stress levels are very important with symptoms and health related to celiac disease and your body as a whole. One of the main things Anne Lee (a nutrionist who works with the famous celiac doctor, Dr. Green) said to my mom after I was diagnosed, besides offering food suggestions, was that my symptoms may get worse before they get better and that the #1 thing...
  19. Oh, okay...you have a whisk. About pots/pans...if they're metal, they should be fine, as long as they are cleaned well. I'm absolutely paranoid and many of the glutened pots and pans were old and scratched, so I thought there was a greater risk of them retaining gluten and therefore, I got one new pot and a new frying pan (and the other cooking things:...
  20. The problem with oats is the contamination, not the oats themselves. Here's a Open Original Shared Link Most oats are contaminated due to either contamination at the mills, or contamination in fields that previously grew wheat, barley, etc......there is some info. at the above post and here's what celiac.com had to say about oats: https://www.celiac.com...
  21. Your list looks pretty complete, but do you have extra pots and pans? Not sure if this is essential, but do you need a whisk?
  22. Thank you for all your tips, ConcernedChef.....it was quite interesting to read all that and I agree that telling people about bad experiences -- or good -- can really influence the restaurant's business. The restaurants, particularly, the chain restaurants that serve gluten-free food are getting a lot of attention on these celiac boards because they are...

  24. Thank you ....just vomited, but cramping and nausea are now gone....it's 9:06 and I have to go study for two tests.....thanks
  25. Hi, The endo. ended a few hours ago, but I couldn't get on here until now to tell you. As I said, I had been having trouble with my internet connection. In my first endo, the doctor only took "one biopsy" of the intestines. This time I had a lot more samples taken....the doctor said that he took a few extra samples to check for any problems with lactose...
