  1. I am fast approaching the age of menopause, and I work with a few woman who forever complain about their hot flushes, sleepless nights etc. What I want to know, is that by being gluten free has this made a difference going through menopause, and if so, in what way? I did hear a while back, that white flour and white sugar were both bad for menopausal...
  2. I've been gluten-free for a few months. The first few weeks i was feeling I was getting better. Then I introduced gluten free bread. It wasn't wonderful, but I needed something to put peanut butter on etc. But it seems now a couple of months later, I seem to experiencing similar bowel patterns as to what I had before I went gluten free. My doctor told...
  3. On a lighter note has anybody done anything a big weird lately? Here is my story, one of them at least. Last night, just on dusk, while cooking tea, our power went off. I won't mention the neighbours on three sides still had lights, but quite a few of us had no power. I do wear glasses, but I had to take them off to read the phone book. That is...
  4. I don't so much get a sore throat, but a couple of times I have noticed when I eat gluten I get a cough, probably through an irritated throat, and at times my nose gets a bit congested. As a result it feels like I am catching a cold, but it only lasts for about an hour. Cathy
  5. I am so jealous of you guys, being able to eat m&ms. Living in New Zealand they have a different recipe and they have wheat glucose in them, so I can't have them. What's worse I miss the licorice allsorts, my favourites, have not found a substitute for them yet
  6. Well I was born in June, but the fact that I was born in the southern hemishpere does that make me more of a December baby in terms of the Northern hemisphere where assumption was made? Cathy
  7. Paullina you are so right, but that was about four weeks before the follow up test. I know it was bad, but I was kind of in denial, and that everybody got it all wrong. I guess we all go through that. Through that dabble, I now believe yes I have celiac. In having said that, there have been occassions where either I did not know, or when I have relaxed...
  8. I had been going gluten free for about 5 weeks when I had my first blood tests, and a few vials of blood were taken. I was worried since I had been gluten free, it would not be an accurate result. They filled about three vials. But they tested quite a few things, like blood count, iron levels etc and for celiac. It came back weakly postitive for celiac...
  9. Mandy you are real real bad. It makes my dabble with gluten seem hardly worth mentioning. But I will mention it. After a month of going gluten free I had the tiniest little bit of kfc, and I mean tiny, and a snack pack of crisps, which contained flour in. This was all eaten undercove, in the bathroom, because I would've been given a severe telling...
  10. I am newly diagnosed, well it has been three months now. It has been a struggle to say the least, and a lot of things are trial and error. I find food manufacturers are not very careful in labelling their foods adequately. I am tending to get away from things with additives, preservatives, nonspecified colours and flavours. But even in doing this, I do...
  11. Shampoos mmm Well I went gluten free at the beginning of the year, and was doing well, my symptoms were going, even ones I did not associate with gluten, but I still had a pimply like spots in my hair. I thought as all my other complaints were going, why did I still have pimply spots in my hair. They seemed to be getting worse, not better. Then one...
  12. I am newly diagnosed with coeliac, and life has been a whole new ball game for me, but I am getting there. Here is one thing out of many, that puzzles me and I wonder if I am the only one who can no longer stand the smell of bread in the aisles of the supermarket. It does not smell like it used to, as it used to smell nice and inviting, but now is has...
