Kaycee replied to GClrdsprn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I heard that too And I have just realised I gave up smoking 16 years ago, maybe i should not have, cause that would be about the time I started getting symptoms Silly me Can it all be reversed if i start smoking again? cathy -
Thanks to all your replies. Yesterday, after trying so careful with everything, I had a eureka moment. For so long I have been telling myself that dairy is not a problem. How could it be? My head was being buried in the sand. I had changed a few months back from margarine to butter, as it had less additives. What with everything else going on with...

WHAT WAS DIFFERENT WHILE YOU WERE 'AWAY' ON HOLIDAY? MAYBE THEREIN LIES THE CLUE YOU NEED. On holiday, it was a different town, different water. My mother's cooking No teapot, acutally no tea, just green tea and coffee. More or less same food as here No dishwasher, just dishes in the sink, like at home here. No kissing the husband while away, as...

ARCHIVED What Is Teeth Discoloration?
Kaycee replied to Dyang's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My teeth do not look yellow. But I remember when I was years younger the inside of them being brown, and the dentist asking me when I was 14 if I smoked? Weird I thought, but as it wasn't visible, I did not worry. They has since been polished, or whatever the dentist do and are no longer brown on the inside. Also when my second lot of teeth were coming... -
I'm so totlly frustrated and at my wits end. My diet choices are getting narrower and narrower. Holiday was great when away, no problems, no stomach complaints, but now they are returning as in stomach discomfort and diahrea. Just a few questions 1 Do you use cups etc from dishawashers at work? Beginning to wonder whether the work one could have...

ARCHIVED Celiac, Irregular Menstrual Cycle, Birth Control Polls
Kaycee replied to leslie j's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My periods have always been as regular as clockwork, never overly heavy, to start with they lasted about 5 to six days, and now I only have them for two to three, in a 28 day cycle, and it suits me fine, otherwise, my iron levels could've been a lot worse. I have noticed that is only over the last fifteen or so years they have got lighter. So I presume... -
25 July 2006 Well the Irish Coffee was a hit with my stomach, and not a problem. So it was a well chosen anniversary present for us both. This is the continued journey to being gluten free. Excerpts from my diary, and food journal, it is probably just as boring as the previous entry, but it is helping me a lot with where and how far I have gone in...

ARCHIVED New Attitude Problem For Me
Kaycee replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your comments struck a note with me. I was obese a couple of years ago, according to bmi, but now I am overweight, and have been the same weight for nearly two years. This is not ideal, but I am happy with it and I know, (how do I know?), I just know that I will never be obese again, this new eating lifestyle sees to that, and after being gluten free for... -
ARCHIVED New Attitude Problem For Me
Kaycee replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a newly reformed eater, all because of coeliac, and it amazes and horrifies me to see some of the people who queue up at mcdonalds and the like, they sure don't look like it is just an occassional treat for them, and I think, how can they do that to their body. I don't like mcd's and I for one do not like the hold they have on the younger children... -
ARCHIVED Other Allergies And Intolerances
Kaycee replied to Kaycee's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you for your replies, they have been helpful, and I think I was heading in that direction. True it is long and time consuming, but I have to do it, or else I will bore everybody by complaining about my intolerances. gf4life, you did answer my questions, by just reaffirming how I thought I should go about it. I do keep that food journal, it is... -
I am coeliac, who isn't? Okay, it seemed to start with that my diagnosis had all the answers and things were getting better. But a few weeks in, things were not really that much better, and I still had a lot of the symptoms. So I thought I probably need time to heal and get better, but that is where things are not getting better so going gluten free...

Anyone Have Dumping Syndrome Related To Celiac Disease?
Kaycee replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Now I eat functionally. In other words, I eat to nourish my body and nothing more. It is an amazing change. And the best part is--I don't miss the old way. Sarah -
Anyone Have Dumping Syndrome Related To Celiac Disease?
Kaycee replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, Sarah, you did not get much response about dumping. And that is precisely what it feels like. Now that I think I have it, even though I mentioned the urgency and the cramps as one of my symptoms at the doctors, he didn't do a double take and say whoa, do I just sit on it, or what. Yes overeating would always be the key to getting it, if I didn't... -
Anyone Have Dumping Syndrome Related To Celiac Disease?
Kaycee replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am interested in this topic and don't want it to dissappear. Naturally I thought my dumping, (not a regular thing by no means, but when it happened it was exactly as mentioned.) was related to coelaic once I had been diagnosed with it. I had not had surgery when it had started, and blamed my dumping on eating too much rich stuff, or when I get stressed... -
ARCHIVED From New Zealand
Kaycee replied to fourkiwis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I will look in there, next. I have four sons, between the ages of 25 and 16. The younger two have been tested, and their results came back negative. Because they have been tested negative, does that mean they can still get it in the future, not sure about that one.The two older ones, in Sydney have not yet got around to doing the tests, I will have to... -
Anyone Have Dumping Syndrome Related To Celiac Disease?
Kaycee replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well I googled and looked up dumping syndrome. It sounds pretty familiar to me. It feels like the whole of my intestines have been emptied. I get stomach cramps and then gurgles in my stomach on the left hand side, and I can feel things working their way down. Then it is off to the loo I go. I first experienced this when I was a teenager, at least 3... -
ARCHIVED From New Zealand
Kaycee replied to fourkiwis's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi and I am a kiwi too. Fortunately it is me with coeliac, and none of my children. It is nice to see a fellow nzer on here. At times it feels I am the only one from here from this side of the world. I have just come back from a couple of weeks in Waimate, and have been so surprised how many people have coeliac down there, and I didn't have to explain... -
ARCHIVED Petty, Silly Annoyances That You Would Never Tell Anyone Else.
Kaycee replied to frenchiemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
They just don't get it. And my sister feels that I still have stomach symptoms, not because I have ingested hidden gluten, (or soy which I am wondering if that is another problem for me), but she thinks it is because I work too hard and walk too much, and it could be in the water. What have they got in relation to coeliac? The water bit is interesting... -
ARCHIVED Did You Find In Recovery That You Had To Eat Small Meals?
Kaycee replied to Sarah8793's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Before being diagnosed, and not gluten free, I had to eat smaller meals, as when ever I overate, I seemed to get sick. But I was always hungry, so I did tend to eat too much, and get sick quite a bit. But I knew I had to eat smaller meals, but the hunger got the better of me at times. Since diagnosis, and being gluten I have had more succes with eating... -
15 July 2006 Congratulations to me, we have been married one year today. One wonderful year. Unfortunately I volunteered last night to do a stint of volunteering at the local library today, forgetting what today was. But Jim forgave me that indiscretion, it was only for 3 hours. Which gave him enough time to walk the dog, and check out a few cars, or...

I'm not sure if I have an issue with cross contamination, and I can usually figure out what the problem has been. I may not work it out the immediately, but I keep a record of everything I eat, and after a while I can figure it out. Could it be some people are not sure what it was that has affected them, and will then blame it on cross contamination...

It was last day of holiday yesterday. Caught up with my little sister and had a couple of uneasy moments. I mentioned to her I had been feeling better while on holiday, and I mentioned it was probably because my eating had even changed down here, less and less additives etc. and more natural stuff. But she jumps on me discounting what I am trying to say...

I agree with you, it is not a rogue gene, it was just a bit of tongue in cheek on my part. My mothers mother had rhemitoid athritis, and my father's side has quite a lot of bowel cancer, so it could be from either side. My grandmother is of Croatian descent, and my father very english. But isn't it strange that nobody in my family wants to know...

ARCHIVED Optimal Diet For Celiacs
Kaycee replied to Phila's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is a wonderful thread, and it just shows that we are all so different. Being away from home this last couple of weeks, and having someone else prepare my food, I thought I would be suffering, like I have been at home on an off. It would seem I would be fine for about four days, then have stomach problems for about the same length of time and so on... -
10 July, 2006 Well it has been a few days, I am still on holiday, but it is nearly over, two more sleeps then I will be winging my way back home. Holiday has been great, I have tried to make it relaxing, but dad keeps on thinking that I should be doing things, and not just reading or doing a crossword. But I am quite happy doing those things. I...
