  1. Sorry I couldn't find a way to delete my accidental repost.
  2. I think so. My 2 1/2 year old was over a year old when she got her first teeth. Along with not gaining weight and nasty stools it was considered a concern.
  3. Recently my daughter had an odd rash on her face. It wasn't bumpy or itchy and it had no broken skin. It went across and under her nose and onto her cheeks. I described it on the phone to a friend of mine and she couldn't remember what it was in relation to but she thought it sounded like a butterfly rash. I looked it up on line and it is almost always...
  4. Hi Nancy, I went to your link and saw that they are given wheat middlings. After reading the definition of wheat middling I still don't know what it is but it says protein. It is all greek (I mean gluten) to me. Gloria
  5. Does anyone know if pediapops or any other brand of ice flavored fruit is gluten free. My 2 1/2 year old has a fever and sore throat and I'm not sure what is okay. Anyone know?
  6. I don't know much about all of this but I found out about and tryed virgin coconut oil recently. I love this stuff. I am not only using it for cooking but to replace butter and to take as a supplement. I am breastfeeding my daughter and was told it was good for the babe. I've done a little research on line about it and while I am not up to snuff enough to...
  7. After going through many doctors who knew nothing about celiac disease/gluten sensitivity (from the time my daughter was 10 months old until now, at 2 1/2 years) I finally found a doctor who will diagnose her with gluten sensitivity. During that time I had her diagnosed through entero lab as gluten sensitive. recently I was reamed by a gastroenterologist...
  8. Thanks shayesmom and momma goose. I am smiling about all the different reactions any one topic can cause in different people. I did not ask Frank to do this. My older daughter works for him at the parks nature center. That is how he found out about gluten sensitivity. I have no problem dealing with it. I had no problem with my daughter not participating...
  9. This is so cool. Upon hearing that my 2 1/2 year old daughter would not be participating in Beavers Bend state park egg hunt due to gluten in the candy, Frank (the coordinater of the hunt) decided to make one area a gluten free section. He isn't going to tell anyone but us that there is a gluten free area or at least where it is so she will be right in...
  10. A friend of mine was looking for updated info today while I was at her house. She said at first they were saying rat poison but now they know that it was some substance that is used in making plastic that contaminated the gluten used in the pet food. They don't know how this stuff got into the gluten. gloria
  11. Never mind. She told me later that it was a special easter snickers thingy that had gluten.
  12. My daughter just read on her snickers package that it contains wheat. I noticed two post here saying that snickers are okay. ?? just thought I should mention it.
  13. I think it was the total serum Iga. Ya, pretty sure it was. I am still learning so much about all of this and I tend to occasionally get the terminology mixed up. Sorry if I am confusing Hope this helps.

ARCHIVED Kudos To A Good Doctor.

John Zubialde at O.U. Family medicine in Oklahoma City has diagnosed my 2 1/2 year old with gluten sensitivity. He was referred to me by someone from the celiac support group in Norman Okla. He is, as far as they know, the only doctor in all of Oklahoma who knows about gluten sensitivity. Such a relief. He diagnosed her before the blood tests came in...
  15. Have you tried Parents Choice pediatric drink that is sold next to PediaSure at Wal-mart? My little one is also 30 months old and has just jumped (over the last month or so) from 21 lbs. to 23 lbs. (and holding). This drink is gluten free and lactose free. Aimee was off of casien for a while but for now we are allowing it. Aimee calls this stuff Milky...
  16. My daughter is 29 months old and weighs 21 lbs. She has been healthy as a horse her whole life, except that since birth she has had a stuffy nose. That went away with a nightly dose of zyrtec. At about nine months she started eating solid foods, up until then she was breastfed only. She has stopped gaining weight since she started eating solid foods. Her...

    ARCHIVED Dr. Guandalini?

Maggie, Will you post Dr. Guandalini's information; phone number and address? I would climb to the moon with raw bleeding fingers to get my 2 1/2 year old daughter to someone competent and trustworthy. If not him maybe he will know someone closer to Oklahoma. Gloria

    ARCHIVED Scary Doctor

Thanks Dessa, I will be calling her office Monday. Jayhawkmom, my DD has been growing in height just not weight much. Scarey Doctor is a pediatric gastroenterologist. Gentleheart, hint well taken. I actually wrote and faxed a letter to the doc that let her know nicely but in no uncertain terms that she was the one assisting me. The next time I saw...

    ARCHIVED Scary Doctor

She didn't gain any weight for most of the 7 months. She did make it to twenty one pounds near the end. Enterolabs nurse said that it can take a up to a year or so of a drastic diet change for the body to adjust to and start using the nutrients from the food. Of course, I don't and won't know if we had gone a little longer gluten free if she would have...

    ARCHIVED Scary Doctor

Hi Tiffany, She does do better off gluten. On gluten she has horribly foul smelling mushy poop, constant runny nose and watery eyes and is grouchy, stubborn and easily angered. People who met her over Thanksgiving and then saw her again after Christmas were shocked at the difference in her behavior. She was on Zyrtec from the time she was 8 months old...

    ARCHIVED Scary Doctor

I haven't been on for a while for technical reasons but my needed finally out weighed my technilogical fears and I have hacked my way back. My two and a half year old daughter had been off gluten for nearly 7 months after having tests done through enterolab. Because of a legal battle with my soon to be ex-husband over visitation issues I needed a definite...
  22. Ursula, Thanks for the doctors note idea. I will take it and medical records. Yes, I have friends rallying around. She doesn't have Celiac, she has gluten/casien sensitivity. You know, so it's even harder to prove. All the doctors agree with Enterolab but are afraid to officially say that a non FDA approved diagnosis is accurate. The bad part is that...
  23. My two year old has not gained any weight or rather kept any gained weight since December. I have had her to doctors and next month she is going to a gastrointerologist. She is breast fed and we have been gluten/casein free (interolab diagnosis) since April. I am told that it can take up to a year for her body's systems to adjust to a gluten free diet before...
  24. Ha ha ha, I can finally relax. So many questiions have been answered on this thread. The eternal and totally self centered, 'Does anybody else in the world use as much toilet paper as me?' question especially. And doesn't it show awesome creativity on the part of humanity to save face? But better than saving face is just knowing that I have the...
  25. Hi Jenny, What is this card you are speaking of? I am leaving friday to attend a funeral out of town. I will be staying in a motel and am looking for ways to feed the baby and I. Hope you see this in time for me to know about THE CARD. thanks, Gloria
