  1. yes, that cake recipe is the bomb! Instead of raspberry jam....lemon curd is great too! I made a 7 minute frosting instead of the one in the book...and it was light n fluffy and amazing! im waiting for another excuse to make it. now if she could only come up with a cake without calories..
  2. Some of the worst diet advice i ever got was from drs and nutritionists. Heck, awhile back when i was hospitalized..for breakfast they served me kellogs rice krispies.....and lunch was mushroom BARLEY soup.. and they KNEW i was on a gluten free diet. I had to inform the hospital dietician that these items were not gluten free...and the next mornng the gave...
  3. I LOVE my fresh veggies too! Just some other quick suggestions..try using them stuffed..stuffed zucchini boats (my kids will eat them this way), stuffed tomatoes, stuffed peppers, etc. You can fill them with anything rice, ground meat or turkey.. its great for a light summer meal with a salad.
  4. that sounds good. I also make a similar parmesan chicken... which is basically covering the chicken breasts with Hellmans mayo..and a little italian seasoning..then dipping in freshly grated parmesan. Bake 350 til done. Its delish. and low carb!
  5. that sounds yummy...i never made chicken-fried steak..but im gonna try this. thanks for sharing!
  6. I get these all the time. For me, too many sweets or spicy foods can cause it. I heard dipping a q-tip in witch hazel and dotting it on the swollen taste bud can help. Also, I've heard b-12 deficiency can make u more susceptible..not sure if its true or not. BTW, I also get weird bumps at the back of my tongue, on the sides..especially if im coming...
  7. So i had to go to the ER Sun night because I have a sprained neck ( kids roughhousing)....ive had previous injuiries to my neck so it easily becomes inflamed again......anyways I couldnt move at all and was having severe spasms that left me screaming in pain. I was given morphine and sent home with prescriptions..skelaxin and vicodin. I woke up the next...
  8. Make sure u arent getting cross-contaminated from the peanut butter! That was happening to me for awhile.. just a thought
  9. Mine is 116...pretty low..and the good cholesterol is too low also. Drs usually think im mistaken when i tell them my #s until they check it themselves
  10. OH, im definitely a super-taster. Canned foods are tinny, could never eat foods from the deli case (potato salad, etc) because of the horrible preservative taste, anything with too much dyes or additives tasted 'werid' to me... and forget about artificial sweetners..bleechhh..diet anything makes me gag. Also, i think im a super-smeller. Anyone else have...
  11. They are all careful not to admit anything. Notice how Star never admitted having a bypass? ha. But i agree, I hate when they interrupt informative guests..just to make a joke or put in their two cents. Although its true, the wheat-free thing is a 'fad' for some people , its too bad they didnt take that opportunity to inform more people about the legitimacy...
  12. In my opinion, that is the best gluten-free baking book out there. The carrot cake and the coconut cake (although i made a different frosting).... were superb..and NO ONE could tell they were gluten-free. Ive tried some other gluten-free books, and was rather let down. And I LOVE to bake for my family and friends..was glad to not have to give that up...
  13. When my youngest was a baby he had severe reflux and the only formula he could tolerate was Neocate. Its gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free. Luckily insurance paid for it.
  14. Ive always remembered my dreams, way too vividly..had lots of nightmares. Now i dream about eating gluten containing foods and freaking out..and waking up relieved that it was just a dream. lol
