  1. Wheat is an allergen that can cause anaphylaxis and death. There is no minimum acceptable amount.
  2. You can still sustain yourself on pasta, only now you'll be motivated to try all the non-gluten varieties out there.
  3. A bit of cute for you. Since I'm home, I've been leaving the door open so the cats can go out. Max doesn't go much farther than the porch, and Lefty doesn't really leave the yard, although he is fascinated with the green space behind my house. If I haven't seen Lefty for a while I'll go out and call him. He always comes running, and he seems to think...
  4. I've written 5 weeks of sick leave, but I'm set up to work from home, so I can extend that by doing part time from home, if I need to. Any longer than 5 weeks and it's my vacation time and heaven forbid I use that for lollygagging and not traveling.
  5. I am so bad at being not well. Follow up is 1 month after surgery. Stopping the pain meds was a good idea. Made me much more aware of when I was overdoing it. I'll try doing gentle stretches throughout the day. Maybe just being in a multitude of positions will help, even if they aren't strenuous.
  6. There is some chemical in some processed foods that I have a horrible reaction to. Maybe all the hot dogs you've tried have one thing in common?
  7. WHIIiinnee I couldn't sleep last night because I've been so immobile. My body hurts from not moving. If the rain stops for a few hours I'll go for a walk, but does anyone have suggestions of exercise that doesn't involve the abdominal muscles? Or lifting?
  8. What she said. Give it six months if you are absolutely sure you've had no cc during that time, and maybe a year if you're only pretty sure. After that you can start checking other foods and additives.
  9. Do they come up horns first? Sounds dangerous.
  10. Excellent site! I'll try to use it during lab meetings when someone questions my results.
  11. yah, sucks, don't it? I know I've always had visions of being a rollicking b!tch, but I've never been able to pull it off.
  12. My Christmas gift to everyone every year is a donation to Heifer International. I figure out how much I would spend on gifts, round up, and then up it again because I get a tax deduction and I want to make sure ALL of what I intend to give is given.
  13. You might want to try no raw fruits or veggies. Also no nuts. Just to give your intestines a chance to heal before they have to deal with all that fiber.
  14. Post everything in Canadian? By the time I figure it out the punch will be gone.
  15. I'm normally a multiple sneezer - my family gives me three 'bless yous' then I'm on my own. Yesterday I sneezed once... Today I sneezed once... Makes me think that normally my nose has such a good time sneezing that it just goes for it till it wears out, but put the tummy in charge and things are different. So why does my nose normally...
  16. So sorry Bev. I hate being in limbo, expecting something but not getting it. Hope you can find a better team.
  17. You may never get a positive diagnosis for Celiac. Many people don't. Fortunately the choice of what to put in your mouth is yours. If you feel better without eating gluten, then don't eat it. Yes, the change-over is difficult, but once you've gotten used to it, it's just like any other carefully controlled diet.
  18. Kindly put "GREATER THAN CHUCKLE" warnings on appropriate posts as it still hurts to laugh.
  19. Good luck with the interview!
  20. Cloris Leachman!?!?!? I might hafta watch this show...
  21. I found that Europe in general is much less wheat-saturated. For the most part, if it doesn't look like it has wheat, then it doesn't. Rice dishes are fine. vegetable dishes are fine. And whole fruits and veggies from the markets are fine. Jars of pickled things from the stores are good. Not sure why you're concerned about vinegar, but you can always...
  22. Forgot to mention that me mum thinks all you guys are fabulous
  23. Tryin' the day with minimal drugs. I need to restart my methotrexate and I didn't want to do that while taking handfuls of ibuprofen (they don't play well together). So had half a vicodin and one ibuprofen. I'll see how that works out. May entail even more lounging about than previously described (if that's possible ).
  24. I'm sure it's just a small handful to sprinkle on the pan so they don't stick.
  25. uh, not quite done with vacation holiday, are you Nik?
