  1. Here's an odd one ! My DH is in sales and is therefore on his feet all day. For at least two years he's had a lot of pain in the arch, more one foot than the other (I can't remember which). I was really beginning to think he had plantar fasciitis or something. He's not one to complain unless something's really up (he hardly said anything when he had...
  2. IKWYM = "I know what you mean"
  3. My son doesn't drink juice at all - it gives him diarrhea. Whole fruit is better for them anyway. IKWYM about juice in the bottle bugging you - I've seen kiddos that have tea or soda in their bottles - that REALLY irked the crap out of me !!
  4. I'm definitely very grateful that I've learned as much as I have along the way, and that Aiden won't have to go through all the things that Ryan went through. I wish Ryan didn't either, but that goes without saying. You do have a good point about the two different diets. I wasn't really planning on having Aiden tested, and was going to assume he had it...
  5. Yup - my son is gluten sensitive, and allergic to eggs, milk, soy, cats, and dogs. The testing he's had didn't show an allergy to soy, but he reacts to it. It also showed him to be sensitive to peanuts, but he's never had a problem with those or any other nut. He was also recently "cleared" by his allergist and his pediatrician, but he still reacts to milk...
  6. As you can see in my signature, our oldest son was recently diagnosed with gluten sensitivity. For over 2 years now we had been dealing with his chronic soft stools and recurrent diarrhea. Much to our surprise, we learned he got two GS genes - neither DH or I had any idea we were gluten sensitive. To make a very long story short, I read somewhere on here...
  7. I like Tinkyada too - it's the only one I've tried so far. I don't think it's quite as flavorful as "regular" pasta (I would eat regular pasta with butter & salt) , but the texture of it is very, very close.
  8. I'm new to the gluten-free diet, so I'm not real sure what's good and what's not. I've seen quite a few of you talk about the Enjoy Life line. For some reason in my city the Wild Oats doesn't carry much of a selection of that line, but last night I was able to find the largest selection yet (I had to go to 3 different Wild Oats). This one carried Enjoy Life...
  9. My son has eczema too. I've heard of a theory that eczema could possibly be linked to vitamin D deficiency - I've noticed that my son's improves in the summer when he gets sun exposure on the area (his calf). Since you're avoiding milk, maybe that's why his eczema is flaring up because he's not getting as much vitamin D as he normally does.
  10. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not blaming this site. I think it's sick that a company can make a claim like that.
  11. It was advertised in the margins on this site: Open Original Shared Link Is this company REALLY claiming to have a supplement that can help you digest gluten, or have my eyes suddenly started deceiving me ?? That seems INCREDIBLY irresponsible for a company to pander that to people who CAN NOT eat glutens !!
  12. Yup, I was going to say the same thing. There's about a 30% cross-reaction between soy milk and cow's milk, too. Soy milk is very well known for causing diarrhea (it caused HORRIBLE diarrhea with my first son). I would try switching him to gluten-free rice milk ASAP and see if that helps.
  13. That's how I understand it, too. That all celiacs are gluten sensitive, but not all gluten sensitive people have celiac disease - celiac disease indicates intestinal damage. Again - that's just my understanding of it. I'm a newbie, so I could be way off ! When I brought my son to see the pediatrician and the pediatric GI, his blood panel was negative...
  14. My son also has a double copy of the gluten sensitive gene, and no celiac genes. DH and I had no idea we were sensitive to gluten, but it explains a lot.
  15. My two year old son complained about his tummy hurting several times. My husband also gets really nasty heartburn/reflux when he eats gluten.
  16. Thanks so much for that ! I saved it in my favorites and will talk to the daycare about it.
  17. His favorite snack for a while was the cat's food. I hope you guys didn't think I was being critical... I was just unsure how far I really need to go with this. Anybody have any good suggestions for a mild shampoo/body wash that's safe ?
  18. As I've mention in my other post, we're pretty new to this. I see a lot of you talking about avoiding products such as shampoos, play-doh, etc. that have gluten in them. I read on here that getting glutened through skin contact is pretty rare, but it seems many, if not most of you avoid even skin contact. Is this something that's common enough that I should...
  19. Thanks so much for all the tips - great ideas !! I'll probably try a little of everything - picking out candy he can have, trading for little toys/candy he can have.
  20. My son will be turning 3 in just a few short days. About two weeks ago he was diagnosed as gluten sensitive/milk sensitive through EnteroLabs. His birthday party will be fairly easy to deal with (gluten-free/dairy free cake & foods). What about Halloween though ? He seems to be starting to grasp the idea that certain foods can make him sick and will...
  21. He sounds like my son's GI doctor who said my son didn't "look" like he had celiac's, and in the very next breath told me she's seeing more and more kids who don't "look" like it, but have it. I guess because he's not at death's door (and in fact, has always been off the charts because he's so tall, and no less than 50th percentile for weight) then he...
  22. What a punk !! I agree with everyone about getting documentation, and I too think you'll win this with no problem - especially since your ex only has supervised visits and has the very illness that your dc has.
  23. That's actually a better description than "watery." Though, there is a whole spectrum of what's considered "normal" for a BF baby. For instance Aiden only goes every 2 or 3 days now, but when he does - LOOK OUT ! LOL His is a little more orange than the mustardy-look, and a lot of times it doesn't have the milk curds in it. Probably because of how infrequently...
  24. Yup - breastfed babies do have watery stool, and it doesn't have much of an odor. That's definitely the case with my youngest, who is currenly being breastfed (he's 8 weeks old). The problems came about when Ryan was weaned at a year and was completely on solids. With him it would just go everywhere and had such a foul odor it would literally fill the...
  25. NOOOOOO.......it's all in your GUT - get it straight !!
