Celiac.com 07/06/2024 - Grey Fox Brewing, a Kelowna-based brewery, has garnered top honors in the gluten-free beer category at the recently held Canadian Brewing Awards. The brewery, known for its dedication to crafting quality gluten-free beers, secured gold, silver, and bronze medals for their products: Quick Witted, Prolific Pale, and Humble Lager. This impressive feat was announced in a press release from Grey Fox Brewing on May 27.

This achievement marks the third consecutive gold win for Quick Witted, reinforcing its status as a premier gluten-free beer in Canada. Additionally, it follows a similar sweep by Grey Fox Brewing in the previous year's competition, highlighting the consistent quality and appeal of their products.

Chris Neufeld, the owner and brewmaster of Grey Fox Brewing, has a personal connection to the gluten-free mission of his brewery. Being celiac himself, Neufeld is unable to consume traditional beers made from barley and wheat without experiencing severe health issues. This personal challenge motivated him to develop beers that replicate the desirable characteristics of traditional brews while being safe for individuals with gluten intolerance.

Neufeld expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, stating, "It’s rewarding to know that Grey Fox beers are not only safe for people who can’t have gluten, but also tasty enough to stand up against the best brews in Canada." His commitment to creating high-quality, gluten-free beers has clearly resonated with both the judging panel and beer enthusiasts.

The Canadian Brewing Awards ceremony took place on May 25 in Hamilton, Ontario, as part of the Canadian Brewers Conference. The event featured awards in four major categories, encompassing a wide range of 61 different beer styles. Grey Fox Brewing's standout performance in the gluten-free category highlights the brewery's innovative approach and dedication to excellence in beer making.

Overall, Grey Fox Brewing's success at the Canadian Brewing Awards underscores the brewery's role as a leader in the gluten-free beer market. With a brewmaster who personally understands the importance of gluten-free options, the brewery continues to set a high standard for quality and taste, ensuring that beer lovers who are gluten intolerant can enjoy exceptional brews without compromise.
