I was unable to find the Kikkoman gluten free soy sauce, but i did find San-j. I got the Black label version. So what do i need to know about this sauce? Hints? Tips? Anything?

I've been wanting a good stir fry for quite some time. Or some Japanese food....

I did notice on the label they use "alcohol". Am i right to assume that its either rice or corn based? I was slightly curious about it. :)

Yes, marinade some quality beef, pork  chicken (sliced) or seafood with soy sauce (easy on the soy sauce), italian dressing, garlic, powdered ginger, honey and minced dried onions - for several hours or longer.  Stir fry (without the merinade) and add your fav veggies until done to your likeing.

Serve with rice and thinly sliced green onions to garnish.

Yeah, the alcohol would be listed as wheat, most are not wheat, if not all.

ok..lazy...didn't read whole thread - but thought I'd add

smart and finals HUGE jug of cheap soy sauce is gluten free -- have no idea what other offending items may be in this jug - this is what my gluten-free men use often for multiple uses.

for me - I stick with SanJ Tamari -- can't have it often, but is definitely gluten-free and the one I trust.

Takala Enthusiast

1/3 SanJ Tamari gluten-free soy sauce, 1/3 freshly squeezed citrus juice*, 1/3 pure apple cider vinegar.  Sweeten to taste if necessary, use as teriyaki sauce marinade and cooking sauce for chicken, can be braised or baked in this.

* we have a lot of Meyer lemons at this time of year, so I might use that instead of an orange or a mandarin orange

I think she means to shake excess marinade before stir frying... or you will end up boiling the meat/ veggies. They need to be dry to get a good sear.

There's an awesome dish I make with shrimp... could also do it with chicken:

Quick Marinade

3 tsp corn flour or potato starch
1.5 pounds shrimp (Could also use chicken)
2 tsp gluten free soy sauce
1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1-2 tbsp vegetable oil for sautéing

Honey and garlic sauce
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp dry sherry
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
5 tsp gluten free soy sauce

Marinate the chicken/ shrimp for 30 minutes or more.
First pan fry the shrimp/ chicken and drain well excess oil.
Heat the honey garlic sauce for a minute or so until syrupy and then toss the cooked shrimp/ chicken in the sauce until coated well. Serve over steamed rice. Yum!

After waisted time of new care team, yet again EXHAUSTED saw new gi today in Modesto, though all my ailments im not getting any kind of concern of me being celiac and sentive to just about everything since menopause. Dr daid why don't I go see you guys because my blood shows zero for celiac. I told him im glutenfree since 1994 by colonoscopy with biopsy positive celiac sprue by GI.Its RIDICULOUS when im bringing in material from this site of knowledge as well as the autoimmune institute, and  there's zero interest on their part.Medical IS causing me depression.Im view as a disability chaser, IM STILL RECOVERING from being a bus driver that im still healing and having more issues, now I may have multiple sclerosis or meningioma. Ive reached out, wrote letters, NOT feeling well. This is inhumane.

I said um no they have doctors and knowledge behind what is being written. So bay area is Downplaying this site! SADLY

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.
