Okay Curious Anyone Feel Sicker In The Summer

I work outside a lot in the Summer as a Garden Center cashier. I live in TN and it gets hot and humid. Before going gluten-free the Summer almost killed me.  Now I've noticed this Spring when I go on break or Lunch from garden, when I come back I'm very sick to my stomach. Right now I feel particularly ill and I'm not sure if it's PMDD, Cross Contamination, or Tension. My head has been feeling progressively worse since about 1. It is almost 3 here and I go to work in my steaming hot Garden Center at 4. Feeling sick to my stomach now and trying to drink some tea to flush my system. (Which will be very bad when I get to work as I'll be very far from the restroom) I think today at least I may have to beg my supervisor to keep me inside and send someone else out. :wacko: Do any of you feel worse when out in the humidity?

If I am already having some issues before going out in the heat it makes it worse. It's almost unbearable :-/ sorry you feel bad, hope you recover quickly.

Humidity used to make me feel weak and shaky and sick. I don't think it was celiac related because I never had bad digestive symptoms from celiac anyway. But sometimes on a really humid day I would be so sick to my stomach I had to go home from work and kneel before the "porceline god".

 

Now that I live here in the West, I never have that problem, although I think it's funny - when I lived on the East Coast, if I could get my A/C to bring the humidity down to 40%, I felt so good. Now here, if it gets UP to 40% I complain that it is muggy!

I definitely have trouble with humidity. It's a bit better since going off dairy and soy, but it can mean sinus headaches, balance problems, nausea, not fun. I'm not looking forward to the summer, when it gets so stuffy that I basically haul myself between home-subway-work and try not to pass out.

 

I'd recommend drinking lots and lots of water, keeping your vitamin levels up, etc. It could partially be dehydration. Ginger might help your stomach.

Thank you everyone! I'm glad it's not just me but sorry it happens to you too.

 

My wonderful co-workers let me stay inside. I drank a lot of tea before I went to work and um.... I'm thinking I did something wrong there. I actually had a little bit of a panic attack. I had taken 2 Advil just before I drank the tea. The Tea was a mix of fresh Meadow Sweet, Black Haw Bark, Dandelion, Chamomile and Bigelow Mint tea. Wondering if that was what caused the mild panic attack.

 

I have felt oppressively like things are not right with my health just over the past week or so. Maybe I'm just over stressed. My mom's health is not good right now. I'm hoping tomorrow to talk her D.O. into running the Blood test for Celiac. I think my mother is the poster child for Celiac and in the past year she has been making up for me not eating Gluten by eating as much of my favorite gluten laden foods as she can.  She is getting weaker and weaker. The Oncologist (they found a very small cancer in early March) today told her he thinks she might have Myastenia Gravis (it's an autoimmune disorder and we all know Celiacs are prone to develop other autoimmune disorders).

So I'm getting worried something is really not right with my health. I had gone on a great vacation and felt fine the entire time. We left town on a 14 hour drive Thursday. The drive back Sunday I was tired but that seemed normal. Got back home 4am Monday (2 weeks ago this coming Monday). Since then I have felt like something is off. Had that nausea at work I wrote about at the start of this tread. I was exhausted at work Thursday a week ago and did something very awkward, I ran my foot over with a 16 foot rolling ladder. My pinky toe is broke and still hurts today, in fact it hurt worse yesterday than any day before. I had the panic attack I mentioned above last Sunday. I started my period Wed (I have PMDD), yesterday I had some very quick large quanity blood loss. Last night I had the "brilliant" idea to have a little drink to kill the pain. Today I feel really lousy. (I acknowledge that could be partially because of the Rum or maybe even gluten in the Rum though I thought this brand was accepted as safe). I had a case of diahria for the second morning in a row, this happens a lot during my period but the weird thing is it smelled sweet. I am most concerned that I have felt off for over a week now. Right now I feel sick to my stomach , depressed, and my head isn't exactly hurting but it isn't exactly not.   I'm wondering if I might have a serious vitamin deficiency, could be becoming diabetic (it runs in my family, in fact on my mothers side she and all of her siblings and several of my cousins are type 2 my brother is type 1) or something else. Should I get my rear to a Dr or should I assume this is just PMDD, or maybe gluten sneaking in somewhere? I am profoundly not happy right now. I don't really like the idea of going to the Dr especially as I have no insurance of any kind and no money to pay for anything other than just an office visit.

I wouldn't run to the dr just yet, there's a lot of things at play here all which would cause some effects by themselves.I think you should just be careful and take care of yourself if things don't improve in a week or two then make a dr appt. long trips are exgausting, any pain and definitely a broken bone add stress and discomfort, PMS can make you feel lousy and periods are worse, plus you glutened yourself that effects me for a at least a week.

It could be that you did get into something you shouldn't have during your vacation, and it didn't hit you until you got back. Could be the acumulation of possible CC, bad PMDD/period, the weather, stress, etc etc. Now, if you broke your toe I hope you got that checked out. But like Brandiwine said, don't run to the doctor just yet. Take care of yourself for a couple weeks, or even a month, and see how you're doing then.

 

I had a horrible time right after the xmas holiday this year, after at least one known glutening. I was so sick! It took me over a month of not eating anything that didn't come from my own kitchen to really feel back to "normal", and I also get bad anxiety with CC.

 

So, take a breath, get your toe looked at, make some ginger tea, and chill. You'll hopefully be ok.

I feel much better today I think the unseen factor was there was a storm coming in. I still get Migraines sometimes when I have multiple triggers hit at once. This time being PMDD and Barometric pressure drop from the storm system. Doesn't explain the events earlier in the week but it does explain why I was feeling so terrible on the 7th. Time to breathe and not panic.  Thank you Brandiwine and Pegleg84.

      If black seed oil is working for his Afib, stick to it, but if not, I can say that ablation therapy is no big deal--my mother was out of the procedure in about 1 hour and went home that evening, and had zero negative effects from the treatment. PS - I would recommend that your husband get an Apple watch to monitor his Afib--there is an app and it will take readings 24/7 and give reports on how much of the time he's in it. Actual data like this should be what should guide his treatment.

      This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

      Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

      Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
