When to retest TTG after eliminating oats?

My 5 year old's TTG has not gone down after a full year of gluten free (to the extreme- almost no food prepared outside our gluten-free kitchen).  We have now cut oats and wonder how long it would take for her TTG numbers to come down if that was what was causing them to stay elevated.  Anyone know what time frame to recheck?

Thanks!

I know you are anxious to see if oats was the culprit (I would be), but I think you'll have to wait a minimum of three to six months to get blood test results which should include the DPG and not just the TTG.  That's based on what the American GI Association's celiac follow-up testing recommendations.

Of course, symptoms may improve much faster.  It does take time for the antibodies to come down.  I was tested six weeks after my 7/2015 glutening and my antibodies were still over 100.  My symptoms improved each week and within three months I was doing well (happily got dairy back again).  I gained all my lost weight back in six months, so I figured that I healed by then.  I assume that kids heal much faster provided they stay on the diet.

Please be sure to let us know the outcome.  You could help another child!

I am not sure if gluten-free oats would keep tTg elevated.  I tolerate them just fine so have no experience with this. Has your daughter been tested for other AI diseases that would cause tTg to remain elevated?  Have they repeated the DGP along with the tTg?

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/
