Hello

I don’t understand what the biopsy-results means- Is it celiac or not:

" 'duodenal mucosa showing mild blunting of villi

Increased intraepithelial lymphocytes present

The finding are non specific ' raise differential diagnosis including peptic or medication injury, early celiac disease "

Thank you

Well, your case is unusual.  If I recall your EMA was indeterminate and your TTG IgA was barely positive.  The TTG can be slightly elevated (besides celiac disease) when you have another autoimmune disorder.  Your doctor also ran an asca IgG test which can check for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (includes Crohn’s Disease).  Many other things can cause villi blunting besides celiac disease like taking a lot of ibuprofen or rarely Crohn’s.

Your blood test result posting stated that you had no symptoms.  What prompted your doctor to test you?

I think your best bet is to talk to your doctor.  He/She mostly likely knows the entire picture.

Hang in there!

Thank you so much for your  answer .

The doctor tested me due to Celiac in my family (nephew)

I got an email from the doctor right now  -  that another biopsy is needed ...

The never ending story

thank you for you generosity , time and sharing you knowledge...

Consider asking your GI to order the rest of celiac blood panel which includes the DGP tests.  Why?  I tested positive to only the DGP.  My EMA and TTG tests have always been negative even in follow up testing.  The TTG is good, but does not catch all celiacs.  This might prevent that second endoscopy.  After all, he found villi damage.    Also some 10% of celiacs are seronegative. In that case a gluten-free diet is trialed.    Sadly, you can have more than one autoimmune disorder (like me).

My niece was diagnosed with Crohn’s.  We thought for sure that she had celiac disease.  Her fourth GI finally ordered a pill camera.  The Crohn’s damage was found out of reach from both scopes.  She must always  be on the look out for celiac disease as it is genetic and it can develop at any age.

I wish you well!

I agree with @trents and wiping down the spot you eat your lunch, and eating the food your brought from home should be safe for even sensitive celiacs. Gluten can jump on your food, so it would likely better better for you to continue eating where you prefer.

I would think that as long as you keep your food on a wrapper or on a paper plate you would not be at risk for cross contamination. You may be overthinking it all which is common for those in the first year of the celiac journey. But let me ask you. Are you feeling self-conscious about having a celiac diagnosis? I notice the term "isolated" in your thread title. Do you fear being shunned? I offer this video clip for your consideration:

I’m worried about cross contamination, as people don’t clear up properly. I take my own lunch in a packed lunch box with my own cutlery, plate etc and wash it all at home everyday rather than using the schools communal options. There is always crumbs or food left out for us to share on tables etc.

Welcome to the forum, @Tanya177! Help us understand why you don't eat with the other staff members at the present time. I'm assuming you already pack your own lunch rather than eating school cafeteria food. Surely there are other staffers who bring their own lunches. How would this be different if you did not have celiac disease?
