Blood test Results and appt with gastroenterologist

Hi all,

I just did a blood test for routine check up,  in particular my chronic low iron.  I got a call from the doctor saying I had unviewed abnormal results and I came in and turns out I tested positive for coeliac disease.  This was a huge shock because I'm completely asymptomatic apart from tiredness and low iron.  I'm still convinced they mixed up blood samples.  I'm going to the gastroenterologist on Thursday but km just wondering, based on these results, is it highly likely the endoscope biopsy will come back positive also? Just trying to gauge the chances I'm coeliac and how much damage has been done.  I'm a 21 year old female.

Results:

H-transglutiminase Iga recomb = > 100 (suggested acceptable range less than 4)

Deamidated Gliadin IgG = 66 (suggested acceptable range less than 20)

You are fortunate that your doctor referred you to a Gastroenterologist.  I am sorry to tell you that I presented only  with anemia.  That is it.  No gut issues at all.

As far as damage, only the biopsies can reveal that.  The antibodies tests can not really measure intestinal damage.  My blood test result was moderate, but my damage was moderate to severe per my biopsies.

You are young and will probably heal fast if you learn the gluten free diet well!  Keep us posted.

Congrats! Can you share the recipe? We just picked up a bread maker from an estate sale and are experimenting.
