gluten-free sunscreen that is matte? (Canadian resident)

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a sunscreen to apply to my face. Besides being gluten free it needs to be matte -- I'm going to wear this on a daily basis to work and don't want to be shiny.

I live in Canada, so that might cut down on my options.

Any suggestions based on your experiences? Thanks!

(FYI I know celiacs only have to worry about ingesting gluten and that it doesn't absorb through the skin, but with the hot summer coming I don't want to worry about sweating and having a sunscreen with gluten in it getting into my mouth, etc.)

Can you get Cerave am?  It’s only 30 spf- so it’s just a daily not a play in the sun kind.

Yes, Cerave AM is available in Canada. Do you find it has a matte finish?

its  meant to be put on for the day  and is good under makeup.  I find it soaks in a fter a minute and it is not shiny.  Its lotion - not a makeup, so "matte" isn't really what it is.  there are makeups that have sunscreen and a matte finish.  You could give it a try.  If you don't like it on your face, use it on your hands and arms.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
