Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils

It's been a long time since I've posted here - but I'm in nursing school and we are studying Celiac Disease, which I felt I would be very knowledgable about since I've had it for 3 years now - haha. Anyways, our instructor told us that hydrogentated vegetable oil is another name for gluten. I wasn't aware of this and didn't see this on the forbidden list on this list. So just wondering if anyone has heard of this and trying to find some information on it.

Thanks so much.

Hydrogenation is just a chemical process.

Hydrogenated vegetable oil contains no gluten.

There is such thing as hydrogenated wheat gluten. Could you have misheard the prof?

Could somebody be confusing hydrogenated vegetable oil (which is gluten free) with hydrolized vegetable protein (which might be gluten but usually isn't)?

I could have got the two mixed up - guess I better clarify with the instructor tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies.

I think it must have been "hydrolized". My friend was intolerant of hydrolized soy protein I believe... whatever is in fake meat products.

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.

Some interesting articles regarding the use of Zinc Carnosine to help heal gastric ulcers, gastritis and intestinal permeability. I would consult a medical professional about it's use. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncpgasthep0778 https://www.rupahealth.com/post/clinical-applications-of-zinc-carnosine---evidence-review https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7146259/ https://www.fallbrookmedicalcenter.com/zinc-l-carnosine-benefits-dosage-and-safety/
