Just wanted to let everyone know that all of Rita's water ices are gluten free except fudge brownie, choc chip cookie dough and cookies and cream. I didn't ask about the custard but they did say that they don't mix serving spoons. Also if anyone is from central Jersey there is an ice cream place called Applegate Farms and they post their glluten free icecreams-too many to list. It is by Freehold Mall.

I guess that the Applegate Farms is now open, seems like it took forever for them to finish that. Do they list the gluten free ice creams and such in the store? I always go to Freehold Mall, so I am in the area a lot and would love to stop by there and sample some.

I believe their custard is gluten free too. I asked last summer and the manager had to contact corporate to find out. I hope they still are, their gelati's are to die for.

That IS good news. I enjoy a good Rita's on a summer day!

Applegate Farms was originally only in Upper Montclair, NJ. I used to go there are a child in the 1960's. I do however, worry about the ice cream scoopers & cross contamination. Is their soft serve ice cream gluten-free?

I realize this is a little backdated, but I just wanted to let everyone know that Rita's custard is also gluten free. This was as of 7/3/06. They actually had a notebook of FAQs and one of the questions was about their food being gluten free. B) So enjoy that gelati! I know I do!!!

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
