Brand new and not sure what's happening

My daughter is 10 years old. A growth specialist says she is not growing as she should (based on bone age) though she's an average height and weight. He strongly suspects she has celiac. However, as far as we can all tell she can eat anything (gluten) with no issues. As far as I can tell she's 100% normal. However, based on x-rays she has the bone age of an 8 year-old and in addition, some blood tests lead the doc to believe she has celiac.

So my first question is whether or not you can have celiac despite not having any visible symptoms, including an apparent ability to handle gluten just fine?

I'll be asking him, too.

Thanks.

Welcome!

Yes, you can be asymptomatic and still have celiac disease.  I had only anemia when I was diagnosed.  No GI problems.  I was shocked.  Two months after my diagnosis, I fractured a few vertebrae — osteoporosis as a result of undiagnosed celiac disease.

Yes you can. But that doesn't mean she would not show symptoms later on if she continues to consume gluten.

Absolutely - every antibody was high for me but I had no digestive symptoms.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
