What Kitchen Things Do I Need To Replace?

Just wondering...what kitchen supplies do I need to replace or not use for gluten free cooking? I know I need to replace the toaster but are there any other things? Colander? What about a mixer? I have one of the Kitchen Aide standing mixers - the really big ones. Is it still safe to use for gluten free baking? Someone said that I should replace all the square pans but the round ones were ok still. None of my pans are non stick and I don't have a toaster oven. Thanks!

Hi--First, don't get rid of your Kitchen Aid! Give it a thorough cleaning, and (this is a tip that Richard--lovegrov--gave me) run it empty to shake loose any flour that might be left over. You do need to replace the collander. Those tiny holes can hold on to gluten from regular pasta. The square pans are fine, also. Just be sure they're scrubbed clean. And yep, the toaster needs to be replaced :D BTW--any wooden cutting boards or utensils that were used for gluten need to be replaced, also.

Thank you! One more question...I'm planning on getting a bread machine. I'm assuming that if I use it to make gluten free bread then I should not use it to make gluten containing bread. Is that right? I'm assuming it's only safe to make one or the other...

      Hey there, have you been tested for allergies? You may not only have celiac disease but be allergic. I have celiac disease and am allergic to Barley, wheat and rye.

      I have osteopenia and have cracked three vertebrae.  Niacin is connected to osteoporosis!       Thank you so much for the clarification! Yes to these questions: Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, or vitamins? I’m within healthy range for nutritional tests, thyroid and am not anemic. I do have osteopenia. I don’t take any medications, and the dietician was actually a nutritionist (not sure if that is the same thing) recommended by my physician at the time to better understand gluten free eating.    I almost wish the gluten exposure had triggered something, so at least I’d know what’s going on. So confusing!    Many thanks!
