Hi I had blood test done about 6 weeks ago for celiac and my results came back at 262

I've had headaches migraines fatigue diarrhoea loose smelling stools constipation acid reflux ...

just had and endoscopy took 6 biopsies

They found a hiatus hernia small one

and acid in the stomac with ulcers which is treatable with some ppl medication for 6 weeks.

how long do biopsy's take to get back?

but they booked me an appointment for 3 weeks times.

my sister seems to think she got her results on the day!

What's are they chances I could have i have it?

thanks

It only takes a day or two to process the biopsies, but how long it takes probably depends on how busy the laboratory is that processed them and how busy the pathologist is who reads them.

What is the normal range for your test results?  I see in another post that you say it is a high positive.

Having several relatives with celiac disease increases the chance that you have it.

Hi thanks for the reply the doc said anything between 1-10 is normal and 40 is considered high. He said I was a high positive with 262.

and apparently I have a few small bengin superficial chronic non bleeding DU's in duopdenal bulb (ulcers) Not to sure on what that means and wether it's another celiac symptom or not? Small sliding hiatus hernia and acid in the stomach been giving PPI'S ( omperazle) to treat the acid and ulcers.

Thanks

Doctors are now diagnosing celiac disease with blood tests only when someone is 5-10x higher than the cut off range for celiac disease. Your range is 6.5 times higher, so I would assume you have celiac disease.

Don't let them put you on antacids, PPI's, etc., except for a VERY short term to heal.  I had a doc try to prescribe me that, bragging that he takes it every day, real athletic young guy...and when I said...but we need acid in our stomachs to break down the vitamins especially D so that our intestine can absorb them!...He went silent.  The info with the drugs says they are not to be taken long term.  So I first took OTC antacids for about a week so I wasn't miserable, then fixed it by following this article:

https://drjockers.com/hiatal-hernia/

These things worked great for me:

1.  thumping on heels with full stomach (recommend emptying bladder first, although the article says otherwise)

2.  raising head of bed a few inches by placing on wood blocks or two 2x4's

3.  ***taking a sip of apple cider vinegar before each meal with protein (we need acid to digest and get vitamins!)

4.  ***DGL chewable tablets after a meal helps soothe/coat, it's almost instant relief.  I like this one because it has the least sugar I have found:

Thank you for explaining! This makes sense.

I have been looking for new dishes. I was surprised to find dishes made of wheat straw. Are these safe for us? I'm very careful to avoid products that may contain gluten. I never thought I might have to check for wheat in dishes.

Welcome to the forum, @Hope07! The reference range would refer to what is considered normal in healthy people. So, 7 or less would mean there is no indication of "active" celiac disease. Apparently, you are doing very will in avoiding gluten. The "Tissue Transglutaminase IGA" is the centerpiece antibody test that clinicians run when checking for celiac disease. My only reservation would be that whenever the TTG-IGA test is run, a "total IGA" test should also be run to check for IGA deficiency. When IGA deficiency is present, other IGA tests, such as the TTG-IGA can be artificially low and result in false positives. In the absence of any symptoms indicating your celiac disease is...

Hola! Not sure if I’m asking this in the right place so apologies if not! I just had a full blood count as part of my first check up after being diagnosed with celiac disease 7 years ago!! With Covid lockdowns then living in Spain for 3 years and now back in the UK, I kept getting missed in the system but finally I’ve had a check up! Does anyone know what this means?  Tissu transglutaminase IgA lev:  0.30 U/ml Reference range:  Below 7 Thank you!
