For the biopsy test, the Mayo Clinic recommends being on gluten for at least two weeks to give valid test results. They recommend the consumption of an amount of gluten found in two slices of wheat bread daily or the equivalent.

I tried to reply but I think I posted my reply instead

My left ear hurts sometimes. But just briefly & doesn’t feel like a regular ear infection ache.

Drizzling Witch Hazel in my ear helps me when my ears bother me.

My understanding is a biopsy diagnosis of DH is as good as a dx of Celiac Disease. It needs special technique which a dermatologist familiar with DH would know. At least save a long trip.

"DH is considered the specific cutaneous manifestation of celiac disease, and the most recent guidelines of celiac disease have stated that, in celiac patients with a proven DH, a duodenal biopsy is unnecessary for the diagnosis. " The diagnosis and treatment of dermatitis herpetiformis

Oh thank you! It’s like a squeezing pain that radiates in my throat kinda , as if it’s coming from inflammation feels like. And yes we both have dermatologist appts,  but not until Sept:(

My lesions are a little more dramatic/slow  in healing than my daughter’s but she seems to have the biggest reaction to bug bites of anyone I know &  thats apparently tied to celiac disease too

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
