I took some for the first time. I was so sick with pain. Is there other things I can do for the diarrhea?

There are better and safer alternatives to Imodium: https://www.dailybody.net/is-imodium-gluten-free/ You might also consider that the real issue with Imodium is the lactose (first ingredient) rather that any gluten it may contain. Many celiacs cannot handle dairy products.

Please tell us more about your experience. Are you having diarrhea much of the time or only when you accidentally? consume gluten?

Have you been formally diagnosed with celiac disease or do you suffer from Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) instead? How long ago were you diagnosed? Have you been diligent in pursuing a gluten-free diet?

I'm asking these questions to focus on the cause of your diarrhea instead of a band aid fix like anti-diarrhea medication.

I was diagnosed in 2004. Yes I been on a gluten free eating since then and I felt so much better. I woke up Monday night with the diarrhea on to Tuesday on and off.  I think it had to do with cross contamination at a restaurant I went too. I order something different. But made sure it was in the gluten-free for me. This has never happened to me before.

Prunes help slow things down a bit.  Or dates...

Hope you feel better.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
