Normal Ttg-IgA/ Grossly Elevated Ttg-IgG

Hello~

I was diagnosed recently and I have been gluten-free since. Other than gluten exposure, what could cause Ttg-IgG to continue to be elevated even when Ttg-IgA is nearly normal?

Specifically, my blood work from August 10 reported both Ttg- IgA and Ttg-IgG at >250 u/L so both were very high - 0 - 14.6 u/L is the normal range. 

My blood work from November 28 reported my Ttg-IgA at 15.4 u/L. Where 0 - 14.6 u/L is the normal range, my IgA score was nearly normal. However, my Ttg-IgG was unchanged at > 250 u/L which is grossly elevated. 

Does anyone have experience with or knowledge about non-IgA deficient Ttg-IgG elevations? My symptoms have continued intermittently. While gluten exposure could be a result, why wouldn't IgA be elevated similarly? Are there other concerns related to Ttg-IgG that could cause similar elevations?

You don’t really know if your Ttg-IgG is unchanged or not.  Greater than 250 could be 25,000 or 251.  It could have decreased from 25,000 to 251. 

Good job on getting the Ttg-IgA down to near normal!  It is not at all unusual for results to still be high after only four months of a gluten free diet. I would be that the IgG has come down but is still above the range of quantitation so you can’t see it.

It seems like you're on the right path, as your levels seem to be dropping rapidly. 

If you eat at restaurants or outside your home it's possible you're getting some contamination. It's always a good idea to reexamine your diet.

      I'm confused about these results. We are not seeing the GI doc. He's totally out of our price range. We can just do gluten free like we do for my daughter who was off the charts on all of these. Any thoughts? Maybe we caught it early? He's only 5.  His EMA was negative. That got cut out of the photo.

      @TempCloud  How are you doing?  I hope you aren't reacting too badly? I would most likely react like Trents.  That said, I have read accounts of some coeliacs not showing any symptoms after glutening, after a long break from eating gluten.  But should that happen to you, unfortunately it should not be interpreted as the 'green light' to go back to gluten.  I am afraid coeliac disease at the present is a lifelong condition, and so, too, must be the gluten free diet.  Here are some tips to try, to help you feel better.
