Gluten Sensitive Or Wheat Sensitive?

My blood tests came back negative for celiac, so my doctor recommended a diet elimination test. I'm in the process now of a (definitely wheat free, and I think also) gluten free diet and have noticed really positive results. But here's my question - are there any blood tests or other tests out there that will descriminate whether your sensitivity is to gluten or only wheat? Gluten is in far more things than just wheat, right? so if my allergy is wheat specific, I would love to know it! :)

Thanks for your help!

Gluten is in all kinds of foods, HBA products, the glue in envelopes and so on. When i first started the diet I looked for wheat only because that's wha they told me but I didn't feel much better so then I figured out it was the gluten. If you stay away from all gluten you will pretty much be free of wheat, rye, barley. Spelt does contain gluten....I'm intolerant not celiacs dx'd..... But I think now its pretty much the same thing. I know celiacs may get worse symptoms when they eat gluten.Everyone suffers at different pain levels....... You could do the allergy testing but if the diet makes you feel better I would stick to it. Also there is the DNA testing too......The diet is actually a good diet once you get on to it it becomes second hand...

good luck

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
