has anyone tried this for stomach pain and heartburn? I've been doing a lot of reading about it, some sites say it helps the pain and the heartburn others say it can cause even more stomach problems.

just wanted the opinions of those who have used it

thanks, Betty

Yes, I have been using it. It does help. My stomach was so irritated that safe foods were not sitting well. I can now eat chocolate, potatoes and tomatoes again since my stomach has calmed down. Also, I woke up with bad heartburn one morning and I took some aloe juice. The heartburn went away.

If you have heartburn there is a product called Heartburn Stop. It is made from orange peel extract. You take one pill every other day for 20 days. I've only taken 3 pills, so I don't know how much it will help.

The thing that has helped me the most is digestive enzymes. I found a doctor who is a medical doctor but also does supplements. She said digestive enzymes are very good to take. I take a couple with each meal and snack and my stomach doesn't hurt at all.

I had added all these things recently, add peppermint oil, but I got glutened on Sunday. Usually I'm out of it for 4-5 days. I had my typical 4 hour stomach ache, but that was it. No brain fog, no headache, no lasting D. I don't know why I got off so easily, but I'm wondering if it has something to do with all the supplements I've been taking.

My new doctor had me do a 3 day stool sample that will give all sorts of results. She feels confident that this test will show which supplements will help me and what I need to stop my heartburn. I'm optimistic.

I use aloe vera juice and love it because it stops my stomach pain immediately. Just curious about why it would not be good for us...it is natural and one of the most soothing things I can think of.

thank you both, I think I'll pick some up, I was looking at some online and its pricy, How much do you take a day? everyday or just when your having stomach trouble?

for heartburn I use rolaids and DGL. peppermint is the WORST thing to take for hearburn, I ended up in the ER a couple years ago, the heartburn and pain was so bad, they asked what I took I said peppermint tea, I was told that was what made me so ill, since then I have read many things about peppermint and heartburn, not a good combo!

I got this from the whole health md website:

Dosage Information

Special tips:

--As a general rule, keep in mind that products that include "aloe vera extract" or "reconstituted aloe vera" may be much less potent than pure (more than 98%) aloe vera. Put another way, be sure to look at the label on any commercial aloe product to see if aloe vera is one of the first few ingredients listed.

--For sunburn preparations, confirm that the product contains at least 20% aloe vera.

--Aloe vera latex is available in capsule form, usually in combination with other (and more gentle) laxatives.

For burns, cuts, scrapes, shingles, and other skin problems: Apply aloe gel to affected area two or three times a day. For sunburns, you can also add 1 or 2 cups of aloe vera juice to a tub of lukewarm water and soak.

For heartburn: Drink 2 ounces of juice four times a day.

For ulcers and diverticular disorders: Drink 1/2 cup of aloe vera juice twice a day for one month. If you are also taking psyllium for a diverticular disorder, allow at least two hours to elapse before having aloe vera juice.

For warts: Dab a small amount of fresh or prepared aloe vera gel on a compress made of cotton gauze or flannel, and place over the wart. Change the dressing and apply new aloe vera daily. Improvement should be evident in three to four days.

Worth looking into! :)

GNC looked like they have some that's more reasonably twice, or they at least have small bottles. Get little bottles at first to see what you like. :)

I use George's Distilled Aloe vera juice - it tastes like water.

I was told to start using slowly as it can act like a laxative.

1 tsp per serving until I worked up to 1 tbs per serving.

It does really help!

thanks, you take such a small amount and still get results? I love that, I was just looking at some online and it said serving size was 1 to 4 8 oz glasses a day :o seems like too much!

Chelsea, thanks for the help!

Curious if anyone has also tried Slippery Elm powder? It is similar to aloe vera juice in that it sooths as well as heals the lining of the esophagus and entire digestive tract.

I make a greul out of it, recipe can be googled. It seems to really make a difference.

I just realized that for anyone doing the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for healing the gut Aloe Vera and Slippery Elm are both big No No's. Ooops!

I do slipperly elm tea 3x a day. It really helps me as well.

I do it all: I take digestive enzymes at every meal, drink aloe juice, peppermint oil, licorice tea, castor oil packs, probiotics, etc.

The problem with you is that you drink peppermint tea, which can upset the stomach. You should be taking peppermint oil pills that are enteric coated so that they are released in the lower GI.

when I was going to accupuncture, the woman gave me peppermint pills..the coated ones, OMG the pain, just terrible for Gerd and heartburn

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

I finally got rhe answer and Tylenol is ok. Thanks everyone

Hey Julie! I was in a similar situation before my biopsy and my gastro said Tylenol was fine. Just avoid ibuprofen or anything anti-inflammatory until you're cleared. Hope your surgery goes smoothly!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!
