My 2 Yr Old Daughter Has Dh

She was just diagnosed this week. We've known she had Celiac's since August and tried our best to be immediately gluten free.

I understand it may take a year or longer for all the gluten (the oatmeal, pancakes, cheerios, etc) that we unknowingly fed her before being diagnosed to exit her system. She's itching like mad now. Buttocks, hips, elbows, armpits, back of her neck.

The dermatologist spoke about Dapsone and I've read the posts here, as well as other medical sites I could find. I have to say, I'm a little apprehensive about giving it to a 2 year old with the side effects it can produce. I read posts here about the tetracycline and vitamin B3 combo.

Any advice about Dapsone for my little one? Would you feel safe with it? Would it be a last resort? We have an appt on Thursday so we should know more then....thanks in advance.

Check all the houshold hygeine products for hidden gluten and keep a food journal to find out if there are other sensitivities. Check the controversial food lists, most of the time they don't contain gluten but a damaged gut reacts badly. Have you also been casein free?
