I actually have two copies of the two genes -- which means it comes from both sides of the family. Hopefully the loved ones who think I've gone all whacked will start to soften up a little bit now.....

Not really. They still think I'm whacked. Not only that but frustratingly none of them are interested in trying to solve their own health problems which are probably related to the same issues.

Be prepared to live life as a someone whose dietary choices seem eccentric to everyone else.

Nope. Not at all. My uncles doc even told him "yup, you have celiac, but as long as you don't get sick, don't worry about it" so my gluten-free diet makes no sense to him! He is like "I have that too, but I don't have to eat like you"..........Maybe your family will be different..............
