Are These Symptoms ?

I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity in April and I am off gluten since.

A lot of things have improved and keep improving, and I am very thankful for it.

The more I think about it the more I am concerned my daughter (2 and a half) might have gluten issues too. Her regular allergy test, which also screened for gluten came back negative.

I send out her stuhl to Enterolab today to have it tested. Then I probably know for sure.

Here are her symptoms: What do you think?

as baby: borderline colic

nursed her 15 months (she would never take formula)

did not like to eat solids much, feedings always took about an hour

never slept more than 45 minutes as a baby

today: never initiates eating

have to put everything in her mouth

feedings still take 30 minutes

eats mainly vegetables, fruits, chicken, ice cream

does not like cocolate, crackers, bread, candy, or junk food

never eats much of one item

likes to drink a lot of regular milk

naps are about an hour, never longer

clingy

has always been in the 5 percentile concerning her weight distribution

She also often wakes up after having slept for about 50 minutes and it seems like she tries to swallow something that came up from her stomach. Then she is in this half awake/ half asleep stage, where she does not respond to me. She cries and kicks for about 10 minutes and then falls back to sleep. This also happend a lot when she was a baby.

Well, you may be on to something. She could also be intolerant to dairy. That she loves milk so much is a dead giveaway, usually people LOVE whatever they are most allergic to. Try cutting out dairy and see if that makes a difference.

The best thing would be to try one thing at a time, otherwise you won't know what worked. So, maybe dairy first, and gluten a couple of weeks later.

If you see a marked difference, you have your answer.

All the best!

your daughter's symptoms sound an awful lot like GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) to me.

Hi

I was also thinking about reflux...both my kids suffer from reflux

Check out infantrefluxdisease.com for more information

It might be a combo of reflux plua celaic or a food allergy/intolerance

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
