Crabs Steamed With Beer

First time poster, hope I'm in the right place....

Here in the Chesapeake Bay region it's crab season, and lots of local restaurants are steaming up blue crabs for our eating pleasure. Many places will add BEER to the liquid in the bottom of the pot where the crabs are cooked. Does this cause a gluten contamination problem?

I think that beer is commonly added to steam pots for lots of seafood (lobster, shellfish, etc.), so maybe this is a larger issue. Same goes for the popular "beer can chicken" on the grill.

I would think that it would cause a problem... stinks though. I'm from Florida originally and I totally remember Crab and Lobster season! (I don't eat shellfish anymore just from a personal objection to eating bottom feeders but I remember how good they were)... You may have to request that yours be steamed in water only.

I bought the Weber thingee (go to their website) for what we call here in Arizona "beer butt chicken". I use a gluten-free beer in the funnel part.

I love to eat bottom-feeders, although putting it that way makes it sound pretty disgusting!! Lamentably, I have developed a shellfish allergy. Get all swelled up!

No beer for boiling, gluten does not boil out or we'd be able to eat pasta!

DON'T eat them. I ate some last week and started coughing and could not breathe. Just started going glutten free. They put 1 beer in - they forgot I couldn't have beer. I only ate 1 before the attack. LindaLee

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.

You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
