Congratulations!! Get ready for the ride of your life; parenthood is the most incredible adventure. Enjoy every moment; you won't believe how fast he grows! (I distinctly remember looking at my 2-month-old son and thinking, "Who took my newborn and replaced him with this 2-month-old???")

Jeanne

Jewels,

THANKS! :D Yep, he is such a blessing. I've turned into one of those mothers who whips out the photos of her baby for everyone from the grocery store clerk to the postman!

Jeanne,

Yep, I already have had the thought "who took my newborn and gave me this 2-month old?" It happened a few weeks ago when he outgrew his first outfit. I wanted to cry, but instead I folded it up to put in my keepsake box. Gee whiz, I've turned into this sappy nutcase! :D It was 2 a.m. and I was changing a poopy diaper and I couldn't shove his leg in the little jumper; I realized he was too long for it and I just lost it! (keep in mind, I was also sleep deprived). I debated on whether or not to go get the scissors and cut the feet out of the jumper and shove him into it or just accept that my baby was growing up. I finally decided on the latter of the choices. (although, to tell the truth, all that saved that outfit is that I couldn't find the scissors)! ;)

Hugs and blessings. -Julie

Well, enjoy sappy nutcase-dom; it's the best part, I think. And the sleep deprivation will eventually get better too! :)

Well, enjoy sappy nutcase-dom :)

Jeanne

HAAA! Thank you, I will try! He is constantly shoving his right hand in his mouth, and everyone keeps telling me that he's hungry...but I know he's not. He's just at that stage where he's discovering he can fit his hand in his mouth whenever he wants to do it. If I fed him everytime he shoved that fist into his mouth, he would have a bottle all day! He's also started this new thing of trying to chew on his tongue and stick it out; again, people say that this gesture means he's hungry too. I really can't see how he can be constantly hungry; I think he's discovering his body. Any thoughts?

Blessings to all.

There seem to be two (maybe more) trains of thought. There is the: if he makes a noise or movement he is hungry crowd, and the baby doesn't need to eat every minute crowd. When my daugher was six weeks old, I was at my mom's and my daughter started to fuss. I started to nurse her (again!) and my mom told me to hand her over. She walked around with her a little and she settled right down. She taught me not to automatically feed the baby everytime she fussed. I was able to spread the feedings apart so I could get a little rest in between. My twin sister however belonged to the other camp and every time her babies made a noise she'd feed them. All of our kids have turned out fine. I liked my way better for me and my sister liked her way better for her. You'll get lots of advice with your kids. Figure out what works for you and don't worry about it.

Thanks for your response! :) What you said makes sense. And my baby is healthy; he is "officially" two months today and weighs about 15 pounds...so he's eating well! :P Being a first time mom, I'm trying to take all opinions into consideration. But I guess I know my child best. Thank you for sharing your story!

-Julie

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.

@tiffanygosci, Thiamine deficiency is a thing in pregnancy for "normal" people, so it's exponentially more important for those with celiac disease and malabsorption issues. I studied nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology because I was curious what the vitamins were doing inside the body.  See my blog.  Click on my name to go to my page, scroll to drop down menu "activities" and select blog.   So glad you're motivated to see the dietician!  We're always happy to help with questions.  Keep us posted on your progress!

Thank you for sharing all of this, Knitty Kitty! I did just want someone to share some commonality with. I did not know This one Deficiency was a thing and that it's common for Celiac Disease. It makes sense since this is a disorder that causes malabsorption. I will have to keep this in mind for my next appointments. You also just spurred me on to make that Dietician appointment. There's a lot of information online but I do need to see a professional. There is too much to juggle on my own with this condition.<3
