i finally found those tanikadink noodles was 5 dollers for a pack but o well i figure pasta can last multipal meals, but i am having problems finding sauce, i got some classico and then found out lots of people have problems so i returned it, got some rague and found out it had gluten in it. i dont know what to get, about to leave for the store in 5 minutes anyone got ideas?

and when i say pasta sauce it can be any type i wanna pick up diffrent stuff like

alfredo sauce

spagette sauce

other sauces? i dont know what is out there i just got into cooking ( was a die hard baker until celiac)

I had Newman's Own Sockarooni with no problem. It's a red sauce ... didn't say gluten-free, but I didn't see any questionable ingredients.

I've always made my own white sauce, but not anymore now that I can't have casein. I melt butter, then add some corn starch stirred into cold water. Then add cream (half and half). Stir until thickened. You can add any spices or cheese you like. Sorry, I don't measure, I do it all by sight, but I'm sure you can find a simple white sauce recipe in any basic cookbook, just change the flour to cornstarch (but use a little less) and add whatever you like in the way of spices or cheese. This is not that much more difficult than heating up a bottle of premade sauce.

We use Ragu here, never had a problem yet. Rague is a unilever product so any gluten would be clearly listed....not that I have seen any Ragu prodcut with gluten yet!

My kids love plain canned tomato sauce--tomatoes, garlic, onion, sweeet bell pepper, and salt and that's it! Nice and cheap, too. We even use it as pizza sauce!

I just make my own using canned crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes. Sometimes I'll add tomato paste.

For 2 lb of pasta I would use:

1 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes

2-3 15 oz canned diced tomatoes (regular, italian, garlic&onion, basil&onion) These are Muir Glen flavors.

1 can tomato paste (only if you like it thicker)

3 Tb basil

1 Tb oregano

1 Tb onion powder

1/2 Tb garlic powder

1 1/4 tsp sugar (may need a little more according to taste)

I also add veggies. Adjust seasonings to your taste. I always make lots for leftovers but you can easily cut his recipe in half for 1 lb of pasta.

alright well vyder since u trust rague i think i will give it a try. Anything you trust i trust since you have kids (so your extra carefull) lol. as for the newmans what is that?? what is a sockernooni sounds like a cookie lol

thanks alot for that recipe, i want to try to start cooking my own things as its cheaper and its a life skill that will come handy later on in life

Newman's Own is a brand name carried in the regular section of the grocery. Sockarooni is one of the flavors that has a lot of great stuff in it.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific with the recipe. If you used to bake, you should be able to handle it with no problem. You might even find a recipe for a "simple white sauce" if you do a search on the net. If you can make a "simple white sauce" and you are creative, you can use it as a base for lots of things .. with lots of garlic and parmesan, it's an alfredo sauce ... with loads of cheddar, it can be used for mac and cheese.

Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

      The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.
