Headaches

For some reason my DD is having headaches almost everyday. She's been w/Gluten-Free since 3 yrs. ago and is not getting glutened that I know of. Does anyone know if something else could be causing this?? I'm making her another appt. for the doc. tomorrow. I'm ready to get her well. Headaches have been going on for about a yr. or a little longer. I have just thought that glasses would do the trick. But not.

Thanks.

Cross Contamination maybe????

Gluten gives me major headaches, so I'm also voting for the cross contamination theory.

Well she did use my pantene shampoo by accident last night, I think. It could have gluten in the fragrances. That's what my drug smartlist says anyway. I need to go ask her about that.

Thanks.

There are so many causes of headaches - cc would be one...but hormones out of whack, low selenium / calicum or trace minerals can cause headaches (which wouldnt be uncommon in a celiac)... not drinking enough water, you name it - the head can respond with pain to issues anywhere in the body.

Good luck with the appt I hope they investigate it thouroughly - it is debilitating to live with that kind of pain every day.

It's also possible that the fragrance alone causes these symptoms. I get headaches from many fragrances found in commercial products. One day I got out of the salon with a headache, and by the time I got home it was so bad I had to shampoo.

Is she hypoglycemic? That can cause headaches daily if not controlled.

Well her eyes are barely bad. The doc. almost didn't give her a prescription for glasses b/c they aren't that bad. She is only 10. I'm hoping that it's nothing serious. I'm sure that she'll be okay.

Gah! Not crappy optometrists too?! Even a small difference can cause a headache in sensitive folks, especially if it's astigmatism.

This is true--especially in children, whose eyes can change quite a bit in a short time. My son was in 2nd grade when we found out he needed glasses. He had been having headaches--that's what brought us to the eye doctor. His left eye was weaker than his right. Although he was seeing the board at school, etc, the act of trying to "regulate" what each eye was seeing was causing the pain. The glasses did help the headaches, but not immediately. After this, we took him in every year, and each time, his Rx for glasses changed. Every time until he was 18. He also has an astigmatism in both eyes--

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
