stillhaveing probs after being gluten-free since may, my sister has a peanut allergy ( very seriouse one that could kill her). i stopped eating peanuts and my tummy is better, my ? is , i know you can get other intoleraces from celiac and i ahve a milk one but are ther any others like peanuts or is this just a family gene thing about the peanuts, i also thought that if you have a peanut allergy you acouldnt eat other nuts ( i still have my cashews) and also is it possible for you to have such a small reaction to nuts ,all ive ever heard is the bad reaction about peanuts, bit confused about this one.

My younger sister is severly allergic to peanuts as well (Epi-pen on hand). I don't think it really effects her stomach though. It seems to only bring on a rash and swelling. Not to sure though.

I noticed that once I removed the gluten from my diet, I was still having problems so I went to an allergist. I found out that I was mildly allergic to cantaloupe, buckwheat, carrots, garlic, and corn. Some of these I had to specially request to be tested for, like carrots and buckwheat, as they are not part of the normal food allergy panel that allergists typically test for. The carrots, for instance, is such a rare allergy that the nurse who was there said she had been an allergy nurse for 25 years and had never met anyone allergic to carrots. According to my allergist, he said people with celiac disease often have unusual food allergies.

If you are still having problems, try food elimination and see an allergist. There may also be new gluten-free foods introduced into your diet that you didn't know you had problems with because you'd never really eaten them on a regular basis before. That's how I found out I was allergic to buckwheat. I threw up and got a rash after I started eating buckwheat waffles.

peanuts and treenuts are two seperate allergens.

many people are allergic to both, but you can just be allergic to one.

i am not sure if it's genetic, but every single person i know with a severe peanut allergy, all of their siblings have one, too. this could just be a coincidence.

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system
