Gluten Free And Non Candida Feeding Baking

Hi~

I like to bake something once a week or so, I love muffins. But I'm finding it hard to find recipes that are both gluten free and either low/or non sugar--I am afraid of feeding the candida. What do you guys suggest? Would you use recipes that are just low sugar, use aspartme (bad I know),or use honey or maple syrup instead? I guess that my candida was only moderate and now I've gone through die off and have it under control. So I don't want to make the candida a problem again, but I don't want to live without baked goods if I don't have too. How much sugar/honey/aspartme is too much? Any suggestions?

Hi,

I went on a low sugar, low carb diet, and took a supplement called Candidase. For sure, there was improvement. But, now my nutritional balancer says it is the reason I am still having problems, so I guess I haven't killed it off as thorougly as I'd hoped. I think I am going to start taking 3 Lac, have you heard of it? It's supposed to be extremely effective attacking and killing the evil yeast, and AMAZINGLY you can eat what you want, and can order it online. Seems worth a shot. Some even say you can eat sugar again after using it.

oh hey, have you heard of using the spit test to diagnose yourself?

i would do that if you haven't yet, and then you won't have to wait for your doctor. it's supposed to be accurate too.

The Body Ecology Diet kills yeast off pretty well. What is the spit test?

You should check in with the lowcarb folks of the world. I'm both gluten free and starch/sugar free (as much as is possible) and I often bake. I use almond flour, flax meal, coconut flour and stuff like that.

Here's a good forum for you: Open Original Shared Link?

There's a huge recipe section down towards the bottom with years of recipes. Use the search engine to find things you might like.

@RMJ what is the DPG test? I think my doctor never had me do that

Thank you @Scott Adams and @trents this is very helpful, and I think I have some solid ideas to bring to my doctor (corticosteroids, testing for chron’s, increasingly strict gluten-free diet)  @RMJ thank you this is definitely reassuring as well, I’m feeling frustrated and hopeless because I have gone through a similar progression of increasing strictness, and am now at a level similar to what you describe, but have not seen any changes in my blood results. I am now thinking to cut out processed foods altogether maybe with the help of a dietician? I’m also worried about cross contamination from the tables or microwave at my work (there is often free pizza and such sitting). It just feels so...

Welcome to the Tribe!   Take the Celiac diagnosis and run with it! P.S.  Yes, adopting a gluten free diet is a big mental adjustment.  Many go through the five stages of grief.  Many are relieved to have a definitive diagnosis instead of being a walking medical mystery.    The forum here can help with lots of articles and years of experience to get you started on your Celiac journey.  Best wishes!

This was the advice from the GI physician:  "We discussed that your work-up is equivocal for celiac disease due to discordant serologies and biopsy results. As we discussed the gliadin DGP Ab IgA has a lower sensitivity (87%) and specificity (80-95%) for celiac disease compared to tissue transglutaminase Ag IgA (sensitivity of 95%, specificity of >95%, which you tested negative for). Your duodenal biopsies were normal; though in mild cases of celiac disease, affected areas can be patchy. While about 90% of individuals with celiac disease carry the HLA-DQ2 allele, many people in the general population also carry this allele without developing celiac disease.  In the context of some of...
