Is This Possible?

Hi everybody,

This sounds like a stupid question, but I thought I should ask it. Over the last couple years I've been having break-outs of itchy spots on my legs, feet, and occasionally shoulders. I recently found out that I have Celiac, and I was wondering if I have DH. So here's my question....

Yesterday, my students and I were making pancakes (using wheat flour) in cooking class. After helping them with the measuring, mixing, cleanup, etc., I broke out in itchy spots again on my legs. Is this even possible with Dh (to break out after just being exposed to gluten)? Or maybe the spots are from something else?

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question specifically, but I just had some of those red itchy spots (for the first time that I know of). They are thankfully fading away. I didn't get glutened, so I have no idea what if anything in particular can be blamed. Maybe it's just something that develops slowly inside until it manifests in a rash. I have yet to do any research on it, but hopefully I won't have to. This site does have articles on it though, so click the site index link on the left hand side of the page and go from there.

I hope yours goes away too.

I have seen a toddler break out after being near playdoh that has gluten in it. (On more than one occasion.) It is possible to have a contact "allergy" to gluten or wheat.

I have a contact allergy to wheat as well as Celiac and DH. It's definitely a different rash. My DH shows up as itchy pimple like bumps on my scalp and hairline, and my contact rash is just that, a red itchy rash with tiny bumps.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
