My mum always tells me to take Zinc. We've got these zinc drops, sorta like cough drops. Not sure what brand they are (maybe walmart's brand, whatever that is??). They don't taste very good but they do seem to help me not get sick and cut my colds in half.

I would make it a habit to take extra vitamin C. I also take garlic -- Kyolic has one specifically made for boosting the immune system.

Get lots of rest, on a regular basis.

Eat healthy, regular meals -- don't skip meals and eat junk. Avoid excessive refined carbohydrates.

like carlab mentioned - eat a healthy balanced diet. it's possible you could be missing out on vital things if you aren't.

also - make sure you exercise daily! even if some days it's just a short walk. i hope you feel better and congrats on the upcoming wedding.

Good suggestions all around- also:

If you can afford it and have time one of the "proven" benefits of acupuncture is boosting the human immune system. I KNOW it has done this for me in the past and I am using it now for the same reason. Good luck to you.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
