I have semi-new pans and pots (or atleast to me) we bought them a little over a year ago- they are those QVC pans (cooks essentials) stainless steel w/ non stick. anything i can wash them with to un-gluten them? what about the dishwasher? Do i have to buy -new- pots and pans? I thought maybe boiling detergent (dawn or cascade) in the pans and pots to ungluten them, or if thats even safe?

also- what do you clean your cabinets with that cleans up the gluten- i have my flours in the cabinet above our pots-n-pans and they've spilled before into the cabinet, now when i clean my pots and pans i'd like them to go back in a gluten free cabinet....i've thought about that cabinet liner stuff after clorox clean-uping the interior.

thanks!!

Breann :)

Hi Breann,

If there are no scratches in your non stick pans, then a thorough washing is fine. The problem is that gluten can become embetted in the scratches and come out in your food.

About the cabinets--here's what I did: Took everything out and vaccumed out the cabnets and drawers. Then, use warm, soapy water and a cloth to wipe them out well, rinse and air dry.

If there's lots of flour around in there, it's best to replace the vaccum cleaner bag after you finish. :)

I asked for new cookware last Christmas for peace of mind.

thanks! that means- pots are ok- pans a few do have scratches and can be replaced, that won't be that expensive :) thanks for the cleaning tips. my vacc stinks- rather than sucks- so i'll have to stick with wiping...the dyson is our next purchase :)

thanks!!

The Trader Joe's GF hamburger buns are the best!

Just ate some for lunch!  A really superb alternative to gluten-free bread and burger buns that all have the taste and consistency of compacted sawdust.  I bought two packs and now I'm down to one remaining muffin so need to get some more; the only thing is it's their own brand - they don't do mail or on line ordering and the nearest TJ's is in Charlottesville (a real nightmare to drive around) an hour away from me over the mountain.  😒

When I underwent a scope three years ago, the GI told me I was negative for celiac because there was no intestinal damage (in spite of multiple strong positive labs). I went back to look at my biopsy report out of curiosity, and found this note: “Localized mild nodular mucosa was found in the duodenal bulb. Duodenum otherwise normal.” The pathology from this scope was negative. Does anyone have any insight into mild modular mucosa and what that could indicate or be a precursor to? I’ve read it can be a sign of celiac or other gut issues like h. Pylori, etc.  Thanks in advance!

I also had high eosinophils which I’ve never had before either - could that be due to gluten consumption?
