We are going to Disney for a family trip and I want to make sure I have all my bases covered. Am I right that Immodum caplets, Gas-X and advil are gluten-free. I am a little nervous about the plane ride due to off and on weird stomach issues, sometimes you just can't conrol when you have to go!

I do believe that those are gluten free. Others will update you if they truly are. That is just not my area of knowledge.

We just got back from Disney. Let me tell you. They are the most accomodating place on earth I think for celiacs. At every place in every park, you are basically able to get gluten free food. Either pizzas or hamburgers and hot dogs, they have rolls that are gluten free too. If you run into any problems at any place, just ask for the manager. They seem to be always knowledgable about celiacs. They have to be on all their food for all kinds of allergies! The one place that the cashier was rather rude to me about it, I went to guest relations about it, my son ate for free, they offered to feed me and my entire family for free.

It was great. You can order a cake from the Grand Floridian, the Polyenisan or any resort that has their own bakery on site and they will deliver it to where you designate.

We didnt stay on site as we bought a vacation home down there and that didnt seem to matter , they will still make the cake!

Have a great trip. You will be in celiac heaven!! :)

Thats great to know about the cakes I had no idea! We love Disney! We were just there in April and everyone was fantastic about my eating! I can't wait to eat good and safe!

Okay, a follow up on Mylicon - one of the inactive ingredients is maltitol, which appears to be made from barley malt. Fortunately, the generic form (Target Infant Gas Relief Simethicone Drops) does not.

I know for sure that Immodium Caplets are gluten-free--I use them often! For gas, I use Phazyme Soft Gels. The soft gels are safe--the other form (soft chews?) is not. I can't take Advil, so I'm no help there :)

Maalox is NOT gluten-free. I don't know what the gluten-containing ingredient is, but I've got a giant YES/NO list of brands I read about on this message board, and it's in the NO column.

ONLY gas-x soft gels are gluten free. Their others are not.

I had a truly awful experience once with Gas-X Chewables. Not good. Not good at all.

I learned the hard way also - Gas-X Chewables are NOT gluten free - only the softgels......

      I don't think any apps are up to date, which is exactly why this happened to you. Most of the data in such apps is years old, and it doesn't get updated in real time. Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. ...

Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.

      Certainly, it would b wise to have a gene test done if your physician is open to it as it would provide some more data to understand what's going on. But keep in mind that the genetic test for celiac disease cannot be used as to diagnose celiac disease, only to establish the potential to develop active celiac disease. About 40% of the general population possess one or both of the primary genes known to be associated with the development of active celiac disease but only about 1% of the population actually develop active celiac disease. So, the gene test is an effective "rule out" tool but not an effective diagnostic tool.
