You might be interested in Canterbury village. I was just at the banquet hall Friday night and had a gluten free meal. One of the bakeries there is knowledgeable about gluten free too. Open Original Shared Link There is a Whole Foods Market in the northern Rochester area. I will try and think of more places. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. If you like the area, I know of another Srapbooking event too.

Dear Nicole,

There is also a Whole Foods and Good Food Company on Maple Road in Troy. In Clawson on 14 Mile Road, there is Bel Cibo, a small restaurant/store. Their pizza is good (you can sit down and eat it there if you wish) and they have various specials. Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's, Outback Steakhouse and P.F. Chang's all have a gluten free menu. Noodles and Company can make you rice noodles (they will use a clean saute pan) with stir fry veggies, gluten-free sauce, and will add a chicken breast if you like. Also, Celiac Specialties has a bakery in Chesterfield Township. Hopes this helps.

Laura,

Thanks for the tip on Canterbury Village. I was not aware of it. I have eaten there in the past (before I was diagnosied) and the food was good.

I'm jealous - a weekend scrapbooking, sounds like heaven

If you're near Livonia, check out Giulios (www.giulios.us) the past and breadsticks are fantastic! They totally understand and go out of their way to make sure you have a good meal. I will say it's a little slow, but if you go planning to have a nice relaxing dinner you will definitely enjoy yourself!

ditto to the reference's above. I was in Troy this Summer for work and I checked out Bel Cibo's. The food there looked amazing - HUGE burritos (made from rice paper wraps). I had the quinoa greek salad and scarfed it down it was so good. That was in July and I am still writing the chef and begging for the recipe.

There's a PF Changs (or as I call it, the Chang Chang Man) in Somerset Mall, which is close to Troy. I drove to Livonia one night for dinner for the Italian place mentioned here. THe staff was great, and the manager came over and talked with me. He even heated up extra breadsticks for me. And there is nothing wrong with a slow relaxing meal. I was by myself and took my book, had a glass of wine and just relaxed and wasn't rushed at all.

Safe travels. Don't stress. Just know there are options, and there's always this board for help.

Wondering if anyone knows whether Lindt chocolate balls are gluten free. The Lindt Canadian website says yes but the Lindt USA website says no. The information is a bit confusing.

I didn’t know there were different types of CT. I’m not sure which I had. It just said CT scan with contrast.

I had the same thing happen to me at around your age, and to this day it's the most painful experience I've ever had. For me it was the right side of my head, above my ear, running from my nerves in my neck. For years before my outbreak I felt a tingling sensation shooting along the exact nerves that ended up exactly where the shingles blisters appeared. I highly recommend the two shot shingles vaccine as soon as your turn 50--I did this because I started to get the same tingling sensations in the same area, and after the vaccines I've never felt that again.  As you likely know, shingles is caused by chicken pox, which was once though of as one of those harmless childhood viruses that everyone should catch in the wild--little did they know that it can stay in your nervous system for your entire life, and cause major issues as you age.
