 My daughter has been gluten-free for 2 months. Still having stomach pain. Gastro doc ran Celiac panel again.

{tTG} Ab, IgG <20 neg

{tTG Ab, IgA <20 neg

GLIADIN Ab IgA 35 HIGH (>30 MOD TO STRONG POSITIVE)

iGa, serum 247 high (RANGE 33-235)

our doc is away for the week. Another doc said it can take a while for numbers to come down. DOES ANYONE AGREE? cAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THESE NUMBERS?

Any input would be helpful.

those numbers have come down quite a lot in two months. it's looking good to me. at this rate, all her numbers will be well within normal range in another two months! is she feeling mostly better?

GFdoc Apprentice

congrats! you're doing great!!

It can often take 6-12 months for the levels to go to zero...and it can be even longer if you've been ill for a long time (like an adult). The key is that the trend is showing a dramatic drop in the IgA antigliadin levels...that's the one to watch, as it can respond quickly with an increase when gluten is in the diet. Have your doc check your daughter's levels again in about 6 months and compare to these.

One last question. what is IgA serum? That one is still really high. Does that mean she is still getting gluten somewhere? This is so confusing.

I'm guessing that's total IgA, but it's not that high out of range. (You note that the range goes up to 235, and she's only 12 points (or around 5%) above that. Given the improvement you've seen, I wouldn't worry too much.) When in doubt (or worry :-) ) do call the doctor! :-)

mine is still positive after 10 months gluten-free!!! I haven't eaten gluten! I don't know the numbers, though. I don't know what to do :(

Mine are still strongly positive after a year gluten-free, and I'm probably the most strict person I know when it comes to this diet! It angers me to be working this hard and be this strict, and still have to hear bad news from the latest test results. I don't know what else I can do, either. It's enough to make me wanna say the heck with the diet, but I know I can't do that.

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
