Seeing A Specialist Even Though Not Diagnosed

I have had both the Celiac bloodwork panel and genetic test done and the results for both were negative. I decided I am just going to stick to the diet without a dianosis however I want to see a specialist who knows about the diet I am choosing. I am wondering though if I would be able to see a Celiac Specialist if my tests are negative. My mom seems to think I am doing fine myself and that a specialist is a waste of time but I feel like it would be beneficial to me. Does anyone know if I would be able to see a Celiac specialist without having positive results for Celiac?

You can see any doctor at any time. However, very few doctors actually *know* about the ins and outs of the diet. A doctor won't be able to test if you are maintaining well on the diet, as, if you don't have Celiac, the blood tests won't show anything. They will likely refer you to a nutrionist/dietician, many of whom do not know about the diet to the extent that is necessary.

In general, most GIs do not really recognize non-Celiac gluten intolerance. They will say, if you don't have Celiac, you don't hae a problem with wheat/gluten.

All this being said, there are doctors/nutrionists out there who recognize gluten intolerance separate from Celiac.

So, it mainly depends on what you think you will get out of an app't.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
