The Weekend From Hell

OMG! I have to share my weekend directly from hell. It all started Saturday, when Colin got a bottle of my pills. He got my Lyrica. We are still baffled how he got them, as they were pushed back on the computer desk and he cant (or so we thought) climb the chair! I found one pill on the floor and thought it was odd that I dropped the pill from the nite before, I never do that. weird. Then I noticed all the rest on the floor. Now you have to know that when Colin eats and he is done, he keeps the last bite of food in his mouth for at least a half an hour, not uncommon at all. I know I saw something white in his mouth earlier, I didnt think anything of it, thinking at the time, its just breakfast. Apparently it wasnt! I gathered up all the pills on the floor, and counted 4 missing, one I know he got and I found the outside of a capsule with no powder in it too. Needless to say, poison control... actually it wasnt a big deal medicine. I could have just monitored him at home. However, I got hysterical and they told me to go to the ER where he can be watched, I will feed better. So we went there, spent 4 hours there, had to drink charcoal, he wasnt happy, but nothing happened. Thank god!

Now onto Sunday.. first he falls off his bouncy zebra. Onto the heating grate, now we have a huge fat lip with a cut, a nice gash on the forehead and his finger is sliced pretty good. Bandaged him all up, calmed him down. ok, crisis over.... NOPE...

Later on.. he gets the constipation monster... he is pushing and i take him upstairs, his little bottom right near his anus is on fire red.. he is pushing and screaming in agony. Now if you ever have fed a child or an adult charcoal you know that it gets everywhere.. no way to prevent it... I was wiping his thighs all over everything, he wouldnt stop screaming.. might be impacted, glycerin didnt work, moving his legs, all the usuals.. even though he had mineral oil that morning.. onto the ER again... get him in, there is nothing there, the problem was his little red tushy. It was sooo tender from passing charcoal, the wiping him was hurting him sooo much, he was screaming in agony. Even still today.. I keep hoping for no poopy diaper as i dont want to hurt him soo much.. well now its Tuesday, bandaids are still on boo boos... tushy is still red, except coated with plenty of A&D ointment, the kind like vaseline based.. which helps sooth him..

Thanks for letting me get it out....

I hate when things like that happen. <_< It seems that it never rains, but it pours......

Take a deep breath, and remember that it will pass!!!!

Hugs.

I am so sorry you have had such a rough time. When something (or in this case lots of things) happen to your little ones it is just gut wrenching. Just try to remember that someday, years from now, you will be able to look back and say "do you remember when you did that?". I hope this week brings you calmer times!

LOL, thanks everyone, I am much calmer now. Even looking back at the weekend, I can see it clearly now, where I was a hysterical mess then... Its all ok now. He has a bump and a bruise, but other than that, no harm done now. I am excited though, I FINALLY got a doc to listen to me, all his pediatricians want to do here is give him a regular blood test for celiacs.. ummmm.. duh.. he isnt eating gluten.. what part of that is hard to understand??? When we were at Chop this past week, they are letting us see their GI people for him and they are going to start with a simple gene test, to see even if there is something there at all!!! finally.. someone who listens, its such a good feeling!!

Thanks again everyone.. for letting me rant and rave earlier...

Thanks that's what I didn't know about soy hidden with wheat. I know it's autoimmune but want sure about sensitivity to corn or eggs. There's no tests for these which are non gluten is there? I have had gluten free tortillas pastas made with corn and have had eggs so I don't think it bothers me but I was curious if there was a test that does sure sensitivities to these non gluten items for gluten-free people. Thanks

And of course I get these results (the ttg iga marked high at 646 mg/dL) on a Friday in my portal, my doctor wasn't in, and now we are in the weekend—leaving me to have to try and figure things out on my own until sometime next week. None of the nurses at the office would talk to me.
